NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

Happy New Moon!  The New Moon in Libra happens overnight tonight (at 4:09 am pacific daylight time) or early tomorrow morning, depending on where you’re reading from.  Mercury isn’t far behind the Sun/Moon conjunction, and all three are exactly opposite the planet Uranus in Aries, the sign that always wants to be startin’ something.  That means things still haven’t been settled yet.  Pluto’s cornering the whole configuration from Capricorn and Venus is almost knocking on Saturn’s door.  That means we’re in for some cold, hard reality.  There’s a sort of sexy undertone to the whole week, but that’s a lot about trying to distract ourselves from the rest of it.  Keep things as consistent and as confident as you can. That said, don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it – a square between Mars and Jupiter on Sunday is pushing all of us to push things a little too far. This is a pretty packed New Moon, and a great time to make some powerful intentions, especially any that have to do with balance, because that’s what Libra’s all about.

ARIES

Don’t push your limits.  You’ve got so much you want to accomplish this week that you might be scattering your energy.  Make the effort to organize your thoughts and you’ll be that much more successful at whatever you choose to make a priority.  Even better, you’ll feel more in control of yourself - as well as your environment.  The New Moon, Mercury and Venus in Libra are all opposing the planet Uranus in your sign this week.  Here’s where you surprise us all by keeping your cool and proving you’ve gained some authority.

TAURUS

Go ahead and hold out.  Taurus is all about quality over quantity, and settling for anything that doesn’t quite live up to your standards will only confirm you’re losing some fairly important faith.  Your Venus ruler’s hookup with Saturn isn’t so much about stopping you in your tracks as it is encouraging you to wait for the situation that you know is right.  You’re beyond capable, no matter how down you might be feeling. Mars in Leo could have you seething inside – focus on what you want, instead of what’s disappointing you.

GEMINI

You’re a charmer.  Tomorrow’s New Moon is enabling you to make a fresh start in the way everybody remembers you.  Never mind what’s happened in the past, you’ve got the chance right now to replace first impressions with a brand new demeanor, the kind that lets us all know you’re completely in charge.  Whatever challenges you face this week, remember that your personality is completely capable of getting you through.  Not to say you should take gambles.  This new persona has everything to do with staying grounded.  You’re about to reap some way more grown up rewards.

CANCER

You’re going to be challenged to find some resources, but it’s as simple as figuring out where things need to be reorganized.  This can mean literal reorganization, like shifting your budget or your time around – or it can be figurative, like shifting your focus or attention.  Either way, once you’re aware of the need to do so, you’ll find the entire process more rewarding than challenging when all is said and done.  It’s still all about being around people.  Use tonight’s New Moon to share a celebration with those closest to you.  You’ll be glad you did.

LEO

This week it’s your dreams that give you the most inspiration.  Write them down if you can. And don’t be afraid to face any dark subjects that might come up, they’re there because they need some attention.  You’re ready to do some good hard work that’s all about building a stable foundation for the thing you want to create.  This is true whether it’s an artistic venture, a new relationship, or a new way of relating with yourself.  Mars in your sign helps you put your most productive foot forward, as long as you choose to do so.

VIRGO

Mind your methods.  Your example will be helping the rest of us through some tangled situations in the coming days.  You know there’s plenty of places where your assistance is needed, but you should also know that it’s ok to ask for back up support.  This time around, you’re ready to lead the way.  The more you can do that this week, the more you’ll get accomplished for everyone involved.  Don’t be afraid of the attention.  Keep being your calm, careful self – but don’t hesitate to let people know that you’re the one in charge.

LIBRA

Happy Birthday!  This next year is all about learning to know yourself even better.  The first step in that process is taking inventory of what you’ve already begun to understand so far.  Think about the challenges and blocks you’ve gotten through since 2008, and how they’ve ultimately changed you for the better.  With Saturn in your sign, this is a big theme for you right now. The more you can remember it, the more you’ll be able to work it.  The more you can work it, the less liable you’ll be to get lost in escapist tendencies.

SCORPIO

You’re starting to pick up on even more subtleties than usual, and that’s helping you make connections that speed up the process. Watch for an opportunity this week to show just how well you’re paying attention.  This may come in the form of a challenge that tests where you’re putting your loyalties.  Be honest and don’t sell yourself (or anybody else) short, and you’ll pass with flying colors.  Staying faithful will pay off in some pretty big ways.  You’re about to be given a lot more responsibility, a promotion of sorts, in your current circumstances.

SAGITTARIUS

You’re frustrated by a lack of motion in your life right now, but it’s up to you to start moving in the first place.  Watch out for putting energy in all the wrong places.  The minute you start pushing that same energy outward in productive ways you’ll feel (and see) a difference.  Use tomorrow’s New Moon to make some intentions that have to do with being kinder to yourself, but also a lot more involved with other people.  As soon as you put yourself back in the center of the action, you’ll start responding to it in all the right ways.

CAPRICORN

Read for last week.  The New Moon in Libra is reinforcing the same theme of balance all week long, especially when it comes to your closest relationships.   Watch for a challenge in the coming days that’s all about letting something minor slide in order to get the big win.  Make the effort to talk to your people on the personal end about the time you need for the work stuff and you’ll be amazed how creative you can be about compromising.  Even better, this will become the new standard of communication, improving things for everyone involved.

AQUARIUS

Push the energy outward.  It’s likely that any aggression you’re dealing with right now is actually coming from the inside.  Look for the source.  Even better, try to use what you’re feeling to push ahead in the outside world, rather than letting it come back to get you.  The more you can take charge and pay attention to your own ups and downs, the less pressure you’ll be feeling.  The New Moon in a fellow air sign is the perfect place to start making some fresh steps forward.  Don’t shut yourself in, or back.

PISCES

Number one rule this week: don’t lose track of what you’re trying to maintain for yourself!  There’s a good chance of running into a very delicious distraction.  This isn’t something you should avoid so much as something you should really consider before taking it too seriously.  Have as much fun as possible, but don’t let anything shine so bright it blinds you to the things you’ve already set in motion for yourself.  Right now there’s a big difference between glitter and gold.  The more you remember that, the better your strategy.

Mercury in Libra

25 September 2011

Mercury joined the Sun and Venus in Libra at 2:09 pm (pacific standard time).

Mercury’s happy in Libra, Libra’s social.  Mercury in Libra is all about light, pleasant, conversation.  Mercury in Libra might bring out the chatterbox in all of us.  Watch especially for gossip that has to do with relationships.

Pass it on,

Adeline

The Moon moves into VIRGO at 9:49 pm (pacific daylight time).
Virgo (like Gemini) is ruled by Mercury the messenger.  In Virgo, Mercury is all about getting the facts straight.  Virgo wants things as orderly as possible, it uses Mercury’s intellect.  Virgo sees the details.
This is the energy that rules over the sign of Virgo.  When the Moon is in Virgo, the perfectionist comes out in all of us.

Libra the Balance

23 September 2011

The Sun moved into LIBRA at 2:05 am (pacific daylight time).

Libra wants balance, it’s the sign of the Scales.  Ruled by Venus, Libra looks for beauty and harmony wherever it goes.  Libra needs things pretty - at its best that can mean the very highest of taste but at its worse it can be all kinds of superficial. Ruled by Venus, Libra tends toward vanity.

Libra’s diplomatic.  Not a big fan of conflict,  Libra likes things polite.  Halfway through the zodiac, Libra is the seventh sign and therefore associated with the 7th House of partnership. Libra’s social, Libra needs a copilot.

Here are some absolutely oversimplified ways planets might manifest when they fall in Libra (or the 7th House):

The Sun: Pretty, Polished, Put-Together

The Moon: Needs to be liked

Mercury: Pretty Words

Venus: Lover

Mars: Charmer

Jupiter: Clotheshorse

Saturn: Indecisive - Detailed, Ritualistic about appearance

Uranus: Generation with the most divorced parents.  (Libra = marriage, Uranus = breaks.)

Neptune: Flower Power

Pluto: Power through cooperation.  Power through balance.

Keep it pretty,

Adeline

MOONSIGNS

19 September 2011

The Moon changes signs every two and a half days.  It always goes through the signs in the order of the zodiac:  Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, and back to Aries again.

The Moon rules the public, and the sign the Moon is in from day to day colors our general mood.

All of the entries on this blog that don’t have a title up top are about the Moon changing signs.  Every month when the Moon moves into Aries, I use a new theme to show the Moon’s move into a new sign.  Last time it was planets and glyphs, this time around it’s the mythological god that rules the sign (we’re at Gemini right now, the third sign in).

Since the Moon moves so fast, it’s a good place to start watching the stars.

Moonsign posts always describe a few traits of any given sign, and therefore some of the feelings that might be coloring our mood at the moment.  Remember, the qualities and keywords of any sign describe the sign itself, not every single person born while their Sun (or their Moon, or anything else) was in that sign.

Signs are like genres.  Not every movie of the same genre is exactly the same, but they all have a similar feeling.  The Moon is a good place to see how that sign/genre can color the mood from day to day.  Then you can start applying that mood/genre to other planets as they travel through the signs, then you can start picking it up in people.

You know, when you grope for Luna ~

ARIES

This week, it’s all about the effort.  Are you taking some concrete steps toward what you’re planning for yourself?  Or have you just been thinking a lot about it?  You’re still in the middle of a chapter that’s teaching you to be your own best authority and right now, it’s time to take that idea to a whole new level.  Just start moving, and you might get so far so fast you even surprise yourself.  You’ll be seeing some improvements you’re making manifest immediately through your closest relationships.  Step it up, you know it’s worth it.

TAURUS

You’re surrounded by people more than just drama.  This week, it’s important to realize what’s coming from you, and what belongs to someone else.  Not to say you can’t be there to help, actually quite the opposite - as long as your heart’s in it.  The more you share what you’ve got with the rest of us right now, the more you’re liable to get back.  This can be anything from calm words to tiny kindnesses to setting a strong, stable example.  Actions like these will help you understand you’re exactly where you should be.

GEMINI

Talk your way through it.  You’ve got the power of diplomacy behind you this week, as long as you can keep your facts straight.  Mercury’s move into a fellow air sign keeps the conversations flowing and the right words on the tip of your tongue.  Just remember to watch the details.  Ideas are coming so fast right now that you could be halfway done with making plans before realizing that you want something completely different.  Brainstorm as much as possible, but try not to make any permanent commitments before the end of the month.

CANCER

You’re in homebody mode – but you’ve gotta keep it social.  Live up to whatever commitments you’ve agreed to this week, and they’ll start to feel like exactly what you were in the mood for anyway.  Tuesday and Wednesday are particularly good days for asking for what you want in any situation.  Watch for people you know to pull all the right strings that get you where you need to be.  Next week brings the New Moon in a fellow cardinal sign.  Use any time you get now to start formulating some brand new intentions.

LEO

It’s still all about working with other people.  You know this, and now’s the time to really start putting it into action.  Make a concerted effort to stop and see some of the projects that are sprouting up all around you – take a walk around the neighborhood, find out what your friends are up to.  Not only will this bring you some completely unexpected inspiration, it will also pump up your own ambition to a whole new level.  Thursday and Friday are the best days to ask for whatever it is  you’re looking for.

VIRGO

By the time your Mercury ruler leaves for Libra on Sunday afternoon, you should have your social side all shaped up.  Watch out for a better than average weekend where plenty of things go exactly your way.  Pay attention to what’s building and watch for some surprise serendipity by next week’s New Moon.  Just remember, it’s still all about keeping it positive.  Stay curious, and continue to work on expanding your horizons.  The more good you can see in what you’re meeting now, the more excited you’ll be about what’s coming next.

LIBRA

Your season begins!  Think about all you’d like to do with your next year ahead, and keep it as creative as possible.  This is the chapter where you learn to put your individuality out there more than ever before, and also when you’ll see how many more friends that gets you.  Your Venus ruler is approaching Saturn the disciplinarian in your sign all week long – do the right thing, especially in relationships, and you’ll see the rewards in some big and lasting ways.  Next week: your brand new moon.

SCORPIO

Keep acclimating.  You’re getting used to a new situation or circumstance right now.  This is fine and good, especially if you’re tracking the details and even trying to remember them by heart.  Really pay attention to how things are dealt with differently in this new chapter.  You’ll have some challenges next week that are all about asking you to prove what you’ve figured out so far.  For now, just be as observant as you can.  Understanding how things work in this place you’ve found yourself is the first step in finding great success here.

SAGITTARIUS

You’re wishing big but you’re also feeling stymied. Mars in a fellow fire sign is bringing your desire levels to brand new heights.  Right now, it’s all about transcending whatever you feel is putting a limit on your freedom.  Smile your way through and don’t let the simple stuff get you down.  You’ve got everything you need to cooperate with the different needs of the people you’re working with on a social level.  Remember how well it will pay off and you’ll be making connections that support you for a long time to come.

CAPRICORN

This week you’ve got plenty of energy to put toward achieving your loftiest goals. You’re getting back to work, but that doesn’t mean you should spend any less time with those closest to you.  With your Saturn ruler spending one last year in Libra, you’re being asked to find balance between what you’re trying to achieve for yourself and how you can be there for your people.  Here’s a hint:  it’s a lot about letting go of some minor expectations.  Tuesday and Wednesday are perfect for taking a step back and reformulating your vision.

AQUARIUS

Time to find your resourceful side. If you’re being faced with some surprising or disappointing situations, look at your options.  You can take the upsets in a way that makes you terribly temperamental, or you can face at the reality, get objective and make a plan B.  This is especially true in your closest relationships.  If you feel like there’s a lot of focus on your behavior right now, you’re right.  The good news is, it’s giving you the opportunity to prove something to the rest of us, as well as yourself.

PISCES

You’ve got more room than you have in a while right now to continue whatever work you’re doing to improve and expand.  You’ll have plenty of opportunities to revamp the love stuff as soon as next week - right now is good to just keep working on your own situation.  Again, this isn’t about being selfish so much as it is about meeting your own needs first.  Just like the thing on the plane with the oxygen mask.  Plan to use the weekend for respite and rest, by then you’ll be way more than ready.
