The Sun, Mercury and Venus are all meeting up in Leo for the day.  Leo’s a sign that likes to show off - it’s ruled by the Sun and rules the dog days of summertime. The Sun is warmth and light and shiny things.  It’s our heart, our essence.  Mercury rules communication.  Venus rules attraction.  These three partying it up in Leo for the day could bring some very spicy social situations - or maybe some drama.

Astrology calls this a Triple Conjunction. We’ve seen other pileups like this one before. Although this isn’t as intense as it would be if an outer planet were involved, it’s still stirring something up.  Who’s got big plans?

Let’s try to keep our heads on straight.  Venus is moving faster than the Sun right now and will make an opposition to Neptune at the end of the week.  Venus and Neptune in combination can bring on the dreaminess in a major way - as well as a major hangover when reality kicks in.

 NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

Who’s procrastinating?  The Moon went void in Pisces overnight last night and won’t be moving into Aries until tomorrow evening (5:01 pm pacific daylight time).  That’s almost 40 hours of Moon void - in the very last sign of the zodiac, during a Mercury Retrograde.  It’s not the best weather for starting the workweek off right, at least as far as getting stuff done.  On the other hand, today and tomorrow are perfect for the social stuff.  The Sun, Venus and Mercury are living it up in Leo, forming a tight triple conjunction that’s all about expressing our attraction in generous ways.  Get out there and join the parade.  Wednesday’s all about coming down.  Use any frustration you’re feeling to get back to business.  Venus moves into Virgo on Sunday afternoon, we’re all going to find our ground again.  In the meantime, get ready for a weekend that’s all about indulging your senses.

ARIES

The more you keep moving and getting things right, the more it will become a completely natural habit.  You’ve got it together way more than you realize. Your temper’s still acting up, but you really can just make the choice not to let it get to you.   Stay calm this week and you’ll get through the drama with a crowd of fans behind you, cheering you on.  As much as you’ve been having to drag yourself out of bed these days, you know the hard work will pay off.   That’s why you keep doing it.

TAURUS

Remember the Bull in the China Shop.  You’re in for a stellar week with plenty of things going right, but don’t forget to keep an eye out for the rest of us, or you might get too swept up. Include as many people as you can in what you’ve got going on and watch things get even better by the weekend. The Moon in your sign Friday and Saturday makes it a perfect time to get things started.  Venus moving into a fellow earth sign the very next day helps you get your grace back.

GEMINI

Wait until next week before trying to start anything monumental.  Right now is way more conducive to tying up some well-frayed loose ends. The more you can do that, the more you’ll be able to get your energy back. You’re feeling all sorts of sentimental.  This is a good time for getting to things that have been on the back burner for a while:  clean out that closet, take the piles to the Goodwill, put up the pictures from that party last month.  You might be surprised what memories turn up in the process.

CANCER

Here’s the good news:  after this week, things are going to start to calm down.  Right now, you still have to push your way through some challenges.  Saturn’s stay in Libra has been forcing you to reevaluate what you are and aren’t getting from one of the people you’re closest to.  This is a good time for looking for the hidden potential in that relationship.  The more you can see where your expectations are so high they’re unreasonable, the more you’ll able to see some absolutely genuine value that you weren’t even looking for.

LEO

The party won’t be winding down until the end of the week.  Live it up for all it’s worth.  You’re still in a place where you’re able to give big things to the people around you as far as support and recognition – keep doing it.  You’ve learned a lot this past year but don’t discount how much you finally understand how to shine from the inside out.  Right now, the more you give to others, the more you’ll be taking away for yourself.  Use your time this week to show off your sympathetic side.

VIRGO

Head start.  This is a good week to stuff your schedule in preparation for the very busy year you have ahead of you.  The better you can learn to juggle your time, the better you’ll be able to stay on top of it when things really get moving.  Mercury’s hookup with the Sun and Venus is bringing out your social side.  Watch out for one of the best weekends you’ve had so far this year and don’t be afraid to keep things dreamy.  Venus moves into your sign on Sunday afternoon.

LIBRA

You’re still in the spotlight, time to show off what you’ve really got.  The people who are looking up to you right now are way more impressed with the parts of you that are truly unique than you even realize.  This week, there’s absolutely no need to try and play yourself up to please anybody else.  The best part is, you’re totally starting to get that for yourself, and that’s helping you learn which strengths you should start sharpening.  Your Venus ruler opposes Neptune over the weekend; watch out for getting washed up in fantasies.

SCORPIO

The Moon’s time out in a fellow water sign at the beginning of the week could bring some unexpected creative manifestations.  If there’s anything you’re working on, today and tomorrow are excellent for getting to it:  play music, take pictures, write things.  Watch too, for unusual connections with the very strangest people that may very well turn out to be pure serendipity.  Just remember to keep some time for yourself.  Take a step back over the weekend and don’t be ashamed if you let yourself laze the days away.  It’s great weather for recharging.

 SAGITTARIUS

You might be put in a position this weekend where you’re forced to take a step back and get some rest – physical, mental or both.  The good news is, that’s after a week full of good opportunities and the best of times.  By all means be out in the world as much as possible, just remember to check in with yourself from time to time.  Give yourself what you need and you’ll have that much more to give to the people all around you.  Next week:  Mercury returns to forward motion and everybody gets back to business.

CAPRICORN

Keep it practical.  Your best bet is still on yourself.  The more you get sidetracked worrying about what anybody else is doing, the more liable you are to get tangled up in power struggles.  Avoid that if you can, because some people are still feeling fairly aggressive this week. Again, it’s not at all about competition, as much as that’s what someone else is trying to make it out to be.  Venus moves into a fellow Earth sign this Sunday, helping you get your grace back.  Next week: things get grounded again.

AQUARIUS

You’re dealing with the end of a chapter, but the only thing you’re really losing is resistance.  You can find more peace this week than you’ve been able to muster for months.  This will help your communication, as well as your constitution.  Even better, you’re finding all sorts of new possibilities in a situation you’ve been reluctant to undertake.  Look to how these new circumstances are affecting your closest relationships.  You’re finding something very true within yourself right now.  It’s a quality that’s always been there, you’re just used to projecting it onto others.

PISCES

Meditation weather.  The epic Moon Void in your sign that begins the week is good energy for taking a step back to process what you’re going through.  It’s especially important because you’re likely more busy than usual right now, and the more you get in touch with yourself the better you’ll be able to handle your schedule.  If you can clarify for yourself what you really want out of a certain situation, you’ll be that much better at vocalizing it to anybody else involved.  This is especially true when it comes to your closest relationships.

RetroVoid Ahead.

The Moon will be going VOID overnight tonight (1:21 am pacific daylight time) for almost 40 hours (it moves into Aries on Tuesday evening).

With Mercury in Retrograde - that doesn’t make it the best weather for starting the week off right.  Moon Voids are procrastination-city.  If there’s anything you can get done today, do it.  Monday and Tuesday will be way better for being with people, out and about.  Try not to just get lost on Facebook.

Who else has the Sundays?

Full Moon in Aquarius

12 August 2011

The Moon will be FULL in Aquarius tomorrow morning/afternoon (11:57 am pacific daylight time) - but we’re already starting to feel it.

Aquarius is an eccentric sign, it likes to stand out from the crowd.  Aquarius does things its very own way.  When the Moon’s in Aquarius, the general public gets this way too.  Watch out for people to start acting all sortsa loony.  A Full Moon in Aquarius is a good time to express your own individuality too.

This weekend’s Full Moon is directly across from the party going on in Leo featuring the Sun, Mercury and Venus the Grace.  That’s going to stir up social situations, and maybe bring some interesting twists to the love stuff.  Just remember, under an Aquarius Moon, people need their independence.

Free to be you and me,

When Venus Meets Mars

Venus and Mars are a fairly well known couple.  Venus and Mars personify the typical traditional girl boy love affair: Venus is the sex symbol and Mars the strong soldier. But you can apply the concepts to any relationship, really.  Venus attracts, Mars desires.  Venus loves and Mars protects. Venus shows what one values, Mars how one goes about getting them.

When you’re looking at the compatibility between two people, comparing their Mars and Venus placements is crucial.  You can’t just stop at the Sun sign alone.  Let’s say you have a lovely Libra lady and a charming Gemini guy.  Libra lady has her Venus in Libra as well, but Gemini guy has a rowdy Aries Mars that doesn’t give an expletive about keeping things polite.  Gemini guy is going to go after Libra lady with action, aggression and fire (his Aries Mars).  Libra lady, with her balanced Venus in Libra wants to be courted and wooed.  Gemini guy is going to have to pretty things up a bit if he really wants to stand a chance, no matter how charming he can be.

Let’s take a calm, cool and collected Taurus dude and a fairly eccentric Aquarian girl. Based on their Sun signs alone, Aquarian girl’s idiosyncrasies would drive Taurus dude crazy.  He just wants to be comfortable, right?  But let’s say he’s also got Venus in Aries.  That makes him super attracted to outgoing, spirited girls - the kind that make the first move.  And lucky Aquarius girl  - she’s got Mars in Sagittarius and that’s exactly what she does.  These two probably have a great time in the sack.

You can also compare Venus and Mars in your own chart, to get some clues about why you handle things the way you do, especially relationships.  If you’re the Libra lady with the Venus in Libra but you also have Mars in Taurus, you might be absolutely attracted to social stuff and being at every possible party - but your Mars is slow on the draw and you sometimes don’t act fast enough to seize those opportunities, you end up staying home (and comfortable).  Or the Taurus dude with Venus in Aries, let’s say his Mars is in Leo, another Fire sign.  This guy has a lot more fire and gumption than a typical Taurus - he gets moving and noticed and puts himself in the center of things.

Remember, this is just one comparison to make. Especially if you’re talking compatibility, it’s important to look at the Moon, and Mercury, and Saturn too.  But Venus and Mars say infinite things about what we’re attracted to and how we go about getting it - it’s a lovely place to begin.

Happy Full Moon!

About Transits

The Zodiac is a circle, like a clock.  The planets travel around the clock - some slowly, some fast.

“Transits” are the contacts that the planets make to your personal chart as they move through the signs around the zodiac clock.

Some of the planets move so fast they go through your entire chart in one year. Others are so slow (like Pluto) they won’t even travel through half of your birth chart in an average lifetime.  The Moon moves fast enough that it gets completely around your chart in about a month.

The slowest moving planets transit your chart for months or even years at a time. Outer planet transits are like eras.

Jupiter and Saturn are a bit faster moving than the farthest out there planets. Jupiter spends about a year in each sign, Saturn about two. Transits from these planets are like chapters.

The fastest moving planets transit for a couple of days or even just the day.  Inner planet transits are more like moods.

Let’s say you’re having a Pluto transit, Pluto trine Mercury.  It’s going to be affecting you for over two years.  During this time you’re also in school (Mercury) and doing a ton of hard core research (Pluto).  That’s the era.  There’s also a six-month period   where Saturn will be squaring your Sun.  You run up against a few challenges during those six months:  your research proves nothing, you hate your professor, you start doubting (Saturn) yourself (Sun) all over the place.  That’s a chapter within the era.  A year goes by and all of a sudden Saturn is trine your Mars and you’ve got more energy (Mars) than you thought possible to put toward study and discipline and getting things right (Saturn): that’s another chapter.

During every chapter you have days where you feel great, and days where you’re not quite so on.  Mercury runs into your Venus and there’s crushes to be found all over the place.  Mars hits your Moon and you’re all sorts of pissed off.  The Moon runs into Saturn and you’re so lonely.  Mars finds your Venus and it’s totally Spring Fever all over again.  Those are moods, they go up and down from moment to moment.

Astrologers use transits to shape your horoscope, a picture of what energies will be affecting you the most during a specific period of time.  A Weather Report. I’m doing weather reports for $25 until August 31.  A personalized horoscope for the next three months, written just for you, a Weather Report can help you figure out what era you’re in - as well as what chapters might be coming up within that era.  I’ll also throw in some dates of inner planet transits that tell you what days are better for being out and about, what days are better for getting things done, and when you’ll be most focused on the love stuff.  More about readings HERE.

Happy Stars!

Mars Who?

Mars rules Aries and the 1st House of Self.

The planets are like characters in a movie or a book, and Mars is one of the easiest ones to recognize.  He’s the God of War.  Mars is pure energy and courage and drive. Mars takes immediate action.

Obviously, Mars is masculine energy.  The glyph for Mars is the same symbol you see on the Men’s Room:

Mars knows what he wants, and the sign he is in shows how he goes about getting it. The sign Mars was in when you were born shows a lot about how you assert yourself and handle confrontation:

Mars in Aries wants action and takes it.

Mars in Taurus wants to feel comfortable and stays put until he is.

Mars in Gemini wants to communicate and he does it loudly.

Mars in Cancer wants to protect and he does it defensively.

Mars in Leo wants to perform and he does it dramatically.

Mars in Virgo wants to be efficient and he does it methodically.

Mars in Libra wants to partner and he gets it with charm.

Mars in Scorpio wants something real and he gets it with passion.

Mars in Sagittarius wants experience and he gets it with candor.

Mars in Capricorn wants to get ahead and he does it practically.

Mars in Aquarius wants freedom and he gets it however he wants to.

Mars in Pisces wants to feel and can be somewhat surreptitious.

*

Right now Mars is in Cancer, he’s feeling defensive.  That’s part of the aggressive, active energy that’s fueling the Grand Cardinal Cross.  Just remember, we’re all feeling cornered right now. Let’s try to use the energy to be more like productive.

Keep on moving,

Adeline

Warning: Moon Void Ahead

10 August 2011

The Moon wil be going VOID  this afternoon at 1:34 pm (pacific daylight time).

This is another big one, lasting until 8:47 pm (pdt) tomorrow night - that’s thirty plus hours.  Don’t forget - Mercury’s still retrograde, so that’s 30+ hours of things going even more not quite the way we planned them.  Don’t panic, just be patient.

It actually helps a lot to stay off of the computer during this time.  Moon Void can suck you into the internet and make you lose hours before you even think twice.

It’s really good for being creative though.

Get to it!
