Repost: About that Grand Cardinal Cross

9 August 2011 ~

This post is from June 24 - when the GCC was being activated by the Sun and Mercury in Cancer.  Both have moved on to Leo, but now it’s Mars in Cancer, filling in the missing link to activate the cross.  Mars is way more aggressive energy.  Mars moves, it wants action.  This weather is especially potent this week as Mars squared the planet Uranus this morning and will be opposing Pluto tomorrow night.  Anybody feelin’ it?

Now that the Sun Mars is moving through Cancer, there are planets in all four of the Cardinal signs:  the planet Uranus in Aries across from Saturn in Libra and squaring Pluto in Capricorn across from the Sun and Mercury Mars in Cancer. That’s a mouthful, right?

Look at the picture above and imagine there are cars speeding straight toward each other, chicken style, from every corner.  That’s kind of how it feels.  Tension’s building, things seem to be speeding up, decisions have to be made immediately and anything can (and will) happen.

*Update:  The Sun and Mercury shone a spotlight on this energy. When they were the missing link in the cross, their energy brought it to our attention.  Now that Mars is the missing link, it’s way more about ACTION and even aggression.  London’s Burning.

This stuff’s not going away anytime soon.  It will be increasing in intensity through 2012, and especially potent any time there are planets in Cancer, which activates the whole thing. (That’s because the planets in Capricorn, Aries, and Libra are all there to stay for a long, long time - Cancer, the fourth corner, is especially activated as the faster,  personal planets {the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars} travel through.)

So what to do?  Get brave, hold fast, and make sure your seat belt’s on.  Remember it’s happening to all of us in one way or another.  Try to use it to your benefit, instead of just letting it affect you.

The planet Uranus (currently in Aries) is unexpected upsets from out of the blue, chaos and rebellion and freedom too.  The antidote is being open and ready for anything.

The planet Saturn (currently in Libra) is foundation and discipline and limits.  The antidote is hard work, which totally brings some rad rewards.

The planet Pluto (currently in Capricorn) is power and transformation, destruction that leads to being born all over again.  The antidote is letting go of all resistance.

Do your best.  Chances are, you’ve got some big ideas right now.  Take a chance and try to make them happen.  Work hard toward the things you believe in.  Try to lose any preconceptions. Picture yourself surviving that chicken fight and coming out with more gold and prizes than you were ever expecting in the first place.  Because, if we use it right, this weather is liable to bring some pretty amazing transformations.

Stay Positive,

Adeline

8 August 2011

Anybody feelin’ confused?

This morning’s exact opposition between tricky Mercury (in retrograde no less) and nebulous Neptune has been affecting our perceptions since before the weekend began and will continue fogging things up for a few more days.  Clarity is a rarity right now.

Watch out for believing only the things you want to see, misheard messages, and leaving the most important details out when you’re attempting to tell the truth.  If you’re on the good times end of this weather, go ahead and jump in - just don’t jump to any conclusions.  Remember there’s a big chance you’ll end up diving too deep, and make sure you have a designated driver.

This opposition will repeat itself in early September, when Mercury is going direct.

Play misty for me,

Adeline

Horoscopes for August 8-14, 2011

 NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

The action keeps building as we approach Saturday’s Full Moon in Aquarius.  Aquarius is a sign that has everything to do with the collective, and doing what’s fairest for everybody involved.  This is a great week then to start coming up with ways we can use what we’ve already learned to start moving forward instead of sideways, together.  Mars, newly moving through the sign of Cancer will be confronting both Pluto and the planet Uranus this week, activating the Grand Cardinal Cross and pushing us all to action.  The more we start to do, the better we’ll begin to feel.  But remember to keep your eyes on every detail and have a backup plan: Mercury Retrograde backed into Leo early this morning and might be looking to get some attention.  Next week: back to the love stuff.

ARIES

You’ve got plenty of things you need to take care of.  The good news is, every chore and every errand you get through now is taking you closer to something better. Keep checking things off your list and you’ll move ahead and pick up some brand new, very good habits.  The more you procrastinate, the more you’re just resisting the inevitable.  Keep tying up the loose ends and this transition won’t seem nearly so uncomfortable.

TAURUS

Watch out for oversimplifying things – especially when it comes to your closest relationships.  The situation you’re concerned with is absolutely not as easy as black and white.  The more attention you can pay to certain subtleties in another’s behavior right now, the more you’ll be able to see the motivation behind their words.  This will lead to an understanding that changes everything from here on out.  Saturday’s Full Moon in a challenging sign is your first chance to show off your newfound knowledge.  Good thing you’ve got plenty of energy.

GEMINI

If the week starts out on a foggy note, know that things will be all cleared up by Saturday’s Full Moon in Aquarius.  You’re feeling a new kind of courageous right now, ready to stand up for yourself and others in any area where things just don’t seem right. You’ll be surprised at how absolutely simple it will be to rally people to back you up.  It’s time to start doing something about a very apparent issue and this week, you’ve got all the power in the world to start making that happen.

CANCER

When Mars is travelling through your sign, it’s important to stay in motion.  Mars brings pure energy, and if you don’t use that energy productively and outwardly it can become anger turned inward, and that’s never the best mojo for moods.  The good news is, you’ll have no problem staying busy this week. Luckily you’re still ready for an adventure.  You’ll be meeting plenty of new people with all sorts of different persuasions.  Watch out for having to make some adjustments to your plans, but know that these will bring something unexpected and even better.

LEO

You’re sitting pretty as Venus and Mercury approach your Sun ruler for a weeklong fling.   Watch for finding creative solutions to the dullest of problems, and finally getting past some issues that have been tripping you up for days.  Even better, the warmth you’re radiating this week will be showing the rest of us how much you’re willing to give back.  Set an example by showing off this newfound confidence wherever you can. The Full Moon in your opposite sign is the perfect chance to shine as brightly as you want to.

VIRGO

With your Mercury ruler retrograde and opposing Neptune, the planet that’s all about escape, it’s the perfect weather for taking some time off.  If that’s not a possibility right now, find a way to be around friends whenever you can.  But watch out for feeling nostalgic.  You might be trying to recreate situations from your past in order to figure something out about your present.  The more you can let go of expectations from old associations, the more you’ll be rewarded with brand new interactions that are stronger and more supportive than you’ve ever known.

LIBRA

More of the good stuff.  You’re likely to be the center of attention this week as the shiny Leo Sun begins its weeklong merge with Venus, the planet that rules you, and Mercury, the planet that gets everybody talking.  Just make sure to remember that you can still be this strong and feel this competent when you’re all on your own.  Enjoy the spotlight, but don’t let yourself start relying on it. If you’re looking to anybody or anything else to fulfill you, you’re looking in all the wrong places.  Pay attention to what you’re dreaming about.

SCORPIO

Balancing act.  It’s still mostly about you – but it’s important to weigh what you really need most right now against what you can save and share with the rest of us.  Look especially at how well you’re conserving your enthusiasm for other people’s projects and news.  You might be so preoccupied with personal business this week that you forget to show up when you said you would.  Again, keeping your eyes on the details and the small stuff right now will go a million miles toward avoiding any angry confrontations.  Check your calendar.

SAGITTARIUS

Read for last week. It’s still all about staying busy, but these days you’d have to make a concerted effort not to be.  As much as you continue to be concerned about how you’re going to come up with some very vital resources, the weather right now is supporting you in every possible direction.  You’re surrounded with people who know about more opportunities that are coming your way than you even think possible as the week begins.  Keep your eyes and ears open over this weekend’s Full Moon and remember to believe in the best about yourself.

CAPRICORN

The only person you need to be competing with is you.  Remember that this week when you’re confronted with absolutely anything, especially if it seems at all aggressive.  You’ve got some busy days ahead, with plenty of places to be and people to talk to.  Go ahead and let others take the lead, or at least let them think that’s what they’re doing.  As long as you’re sticking to your own standards nobody else will be a threat. The more you really know that, the more sure of yourself you’ll seem.

AQUARIUS

Aquarius has a tendency to hold on too tightly to people and things, but chances are right now you’re ready to move on and make room for something new.  The Full Moon in your sign is helping you see, very clearly, just what direction you need to be taking right now.  You haven’t been this certain for months and it feels fantastic.  Stay practical about it though.  This isn’t the time to start sharing your plans with just anybody.  The longer you can keep them to yourself the more they will begin to mean.

PISCES

Emotions keep coming up to the surface this week.  The tendency toward insomnia increases for all of us during any Full Moon - watch out for feeling more anxious than usual and letting your thoughts run wild.  Here’s the good news:  you’re able to find enormous creative inspiration and synchronicities all over the place right now - as long as you’re looking for experience more than escapism.  Be all about the moment and you’ll soon start to see that what you’re worrying so much about isn’t even really the root of the problem after all.

Neptune’s return to Aquarius

Odilon Redon

Neptune’s hard to pin down.  It’s foggy and nebulous, it’s the opposite of crystal clear. Neptune rules Pisces, and the 12th House of things that are hidden or buried way deep down.  It can bring compassion and beautiful creativity - but it can also bring deception and confusion and addiction and delusion.  Neptune rules music and movies and magic and miracles.  Neptune rules glamour and alcohol.

Named after the Roman God of the sea, Neptune washes over the planets and places it touches.  Neptune is powerful, Neptune drowns.

The glyph for Neptune is the trident:

Neptune is one of the outer planets - it moves very slowly, spending about 14 years in each sign.  And like all of the outer planets, when Neptune changes signs it brings with it a brand new era, a new generation.

Neptune was discovered in 1863 - while in the sign of Aquarius, and has been travelling through Aquarius again since 1998. This past April, Neptune moved into Pisces for a preview of its tour through that sign (February 2012 - January 2026).  Just last night, Neptune retrograded back into Aquarius to finish up some business there.

Think about what’s been going on for you since 1998.  Can you see any chapters ending?  The time between now and February will be bringing some things full circle.  But remember - this is foggy, Neptunian energy and the endings might not manifest like you’re expecting them to.  Neptune dissolves.  These chapters will be blending into each other.  If you know your chart, look to the cusp of Aquarius and Pisces to see where Neptune is transiting for you right now.

Also, look at all the things that have gone on in the world since 1998, when Neptune began its tour through Aquarius.  Neptune has everything to do with what’s fashionable, and Aquarius is a sign that’s all about detachment and individuality and the future.  Think about the internet in 1998 versus how it is now.  Think about online everything.  Everybody’s personal “page”.  Smart phones.  Texting. “Indie” stuff from music to movies becoming more popular - that’s a huge manifestation of Neptune in Aquarius.  Remember utilitarian high fashion?  That too.  We could go on and on and on.

Pisces, remember, is the sign that Neptune rules.  Neptune’s return to its hometown next year will bring a whole new era: hopefully with a lot of Pisces compassion and meditation and spiritual stuff.  Things will be getting all sorts of new-agey again, fashion will get softer, people will be wanting to get lost in fantasy more than the future.  The past four months have given us some hints of what’s to come, but it’s Neptune, so they’re nebulous.

Don’t stop believin’

8/5/11

Sample Moon Cycle Report.

The Moon travels through all 12 signs each month.  As it does so, it makes a series of contacts to each of the planets in your chart.  These contacts, or “transits” in Astrology, affect your personal weather and your mood. Since the Moon moves so fast, they are not long lasting transits, each only affecting you for about a day at a time.

Since the Moon repeats these cycles every single month, it’s a great place to start watching the patterns in Astrology, and seeing how these transits might manifest for you, personally.  The following report gives some possible indications of how each transit might affect your chart, but remember, each of us experiences the energy from the sky in our own personal way.  A Moon transit to Mars might make one person very energetic, and another very angry.  Or it might affect the same person in each of these ways on two different occasions.  Watch the Moon as it moves through the signs, and pay attention to how these transits manifest for you.  Once you start to see the patterns, you’ll start to understand how to use them in the most productive ways.

Remember:  there are always other planets transiting your chart as well, and these can further color your day to day weather.  But learning how the Moon affects you is the perfect place to start understanding Astrology.

You can always look to see where the Moon is on Astro.com.  The lower left hand corner of the home page lists the current position of all of the planets.  The Moon is the second planet listed, and the degree that it is at is the number to the left of the symbol for that sign.  (My blog will always list the sign the Moon is in, but for the specific degree, go to Astro.com!)

Everybody’s Moon cycle is unique and specific to your individual chart. You can use this report each month as the Moon goes through each of the signs. These reports will be $25 through the end of the month.  Contact me here.

MOON CYCLE REPORT

MOON IN LEO/ LUNAR RETURN

Early Leo (0-10 degrees): No aspects

Long, slow days.  Not a lot of activity.  Conclusion of the previous month’s cycle.

Mid Leo (11-20 degrees):

Moon square Uranus / Moon conjunct Moon+Mars / Moon trine Neptune/Moon in the 3rd House

Each month, when the Moon returns to the degree it was at when you were born, you have what’s called a “Lunar Return”.  This is a day when you are closely connected to what you really need, what really makes you feel safe.  All of the aspects that the Moon makes in your natal chart repeat on this day.  It’s a great time to step back and really think about your needs and what you’re doing to satisfy them.

You have a natal conjunction between your Moon and your Mars, and this means you need to take action.  This day is well suited to taking action, and with your natal square between the Moon and the planet Uranus and trine between the Moon and Neptune, that action should be something that asserts your individuality (Uranus) and is creative, and imaginative (Neptune). This is also a great time to make intentions about how you’d like the next month to be.

Late Leo (21-30 degrees):

Moon conjunct Saturn and square Sun / Moon trine Mercury

Watch out for feeling isolated or even lonely.  The antidote to this is as easy as getting some hard work done.  You’re able to focus and communicate at your best right now.  Get a project started and you’ll find yourself surrounded with people to talk to in now time.

MOON IN VIRGO

Early Virgo (0-10 degrees):

Moon sextile Jupiter + Ascendant

This is happy, lucky, go out and have a good time weather.  Great for being around people. Enjoy yourself.

Mid Virgo (11-20 degrees)~ Moon in the 4th House

Moon conjunct IC / Moon sextile Uranus / Moon square Neptune

When the Moon is in the 4th House, you feel more like being at home.  This doesn’t mean you don’t want to be around people, but it’s better to bring them into your environment – it’s perfect weather for hostessing.  The sextile to Uranus brings the chance to switch up your routine a bit and the square to Neptune means you’ll be productive if you challenge your imagination.

Late Virgo (21-30 degrees):

Moon square Venus / Moon trine Sun

Good vibes.  You’ll easily be yourself, with anybody you encounter today.  You’ll likely have your mind on the love stuff, but not in a bad way.

MOON IN LIBRA

Early Libra (0-10 degrees):

Moon square Jupiter + Ascendant

More good vibes.  But now’s when you might start to question yourself and/or start trying to prove something you don’t necessarily need to prove.  Try to stay within your boundaries.

Mid Libra (11-20 degrees) ~ Moon in the 5th House

Moon conjunct Pluto / Moon sextile Moon + Mars / Moon sextile Neptune / Moon trine Venus

You might be feeling interior.  You’re thinking very deeply about who you really are and what you really need – but you have every resource at your disposal to express whatever you’re going through in creative ways.  Alternately, you might have some kind of deep experience today that makes you start to question things.  Be careful of resisting too hard in any situation.

Late Libra (21-30 degrees):

Moon sextile Saturn / Moon opposed Mercury

Get back to work.  Whatever you’ve been going through will work itself out, but this is a time to remember your mundane duties in the every day world.

MOON IN SCORPIO

Early Scorpio (1-10 degrees)

Moon trine Jupiter + Ascendant

Back to the good times.  You’re completely enabled to be yourself and you want to be out and about and enjoying your friends and the things you love to do.

Mid Scorpio (11-20 degrees)

Moon trine Midheaven/Moon conjunct Uranus

You assert your individuality more than usual and seek out experiences and activities that are unusual from your day-to-day experience.  Good weather for making connections that can help you get ahead in the world.

Late Scorpio (21-30 degrees)

Moon opposite Sun and square Mars / Moon in the 6th House

Clean house.  Anything you’ve been neglecting may make itself known and demand some closure.  The Moon in the 6th House is good for paying attention to the details and anything involving your health or perfecting your daily routine.

MOON IN SAGITTARIUS

Early Sagittarius (1-10 degrees)

No Aspects

Great weather for just plain catching up with yourself.

Mid Sagittarius (11-20 degrees)

Moon square Midheaven / Moon trine Moon + Mars and sextile Pluto / Moon conjunct Neptune / Moon opposite Venus

Lots of active emotions.  Make plenty of room for yourself – this is a time you can come to some epic realizations.  Alternatively, watch out for getting lost in daydreams or obsessing about the love stuff.

Late Sagittarius (21-30 degrees)

Moon trine Mercury

Here comes the clarity.  You’re able to focus again.

MOON IN CAPRICORN

Early Capricorn (1-10 degrees)

Moon conjunct Descendant / Moon in the 7th House

You are very concerned with relationships and want to be around other people.  But you’re much more emotionally invested than usual right now, especially in your closest relationships – watch out for acting from pure impulse, remember to think first. Situations you come across know will be mirroring something back for you to learn about yourself.

Mid Capricorn (11-20 degrees)

Moon sextile Midheaven/Moon sextile Uranus/Moon trine Pluto

Again – watch out for acting impulsively, or even compulsively.  If you can keep your wits about you this is powerful weather for moving forward instead of becoming mired in your past.

Late Capricorn (21-30 degrees)

Moon trine Sun / Moon square Jupiter / Moon in the 8th House.

Great energy.  Again, you’re completely enabled to be yourself and your mood is quite generous and optimistic.  You feel empowered.  Be out in the world and have a beautiful day.

MOON IN AQUARIUS

Early Aquarius (1-10 degrees)

No aspects, but the Moon is still in the 8th House meaning possible intense and deep emotions.  Watch out for trying to dig too deep for information you don’t necessarily really want.

Mid Aquarius (11-20 degrees)

Moon square Uranus / Moon opposite Moon+Mars and trine Pluto / Moon sextile Neptune / Moon trine Venus / Moon in the 9th House

You might be feeling extra contrary, at the very least you want to go against the grain from what everybody else is doing.  You’re in the mood for an adventure.  This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but watch out for overindulgence.  Not the best weather for getting your work done.

Late Aquarius (21-30 degrees)

Moon Sextile Mercury

Now’s the time to get back to business.  Good energy for finding your focus and/or being out in the community.

MOON IN PISCES

Early Pisces (1-10 degrees)

Moon trine Jupiter+Ascendant

Good mood, feeling like yourself again.  Ability to stay on the right road.

Mid Pisces (11-20 degrees)

Moon conjunct Midheaven/Moon trine Uranus/Moon Square Neptune/Moon square Venus/Moon in the 10th House

You’re thinking more about where you’re headed.  You’re more concerned than usual about your role amongst your friends or your coworkers or even your family.  This is a good time to get creative about it – you almost have a sixth sense about what you need to do to improve your situation.

Late Pisces (21-30 degrees)

MOON VOID OF COURSE

Things don’t always go as planned and/or seem stalled beyond belief.  This is great weather for just chilling out with friends – not so good for anything that holds a lot of importance or weight.  Try to push those kinds of things back until the Moon moves into Aries.

MOON IN ARIES

Early Aries (1-10 degrees)

Moon square Jupiter+Ascendant

You’re extra sensitive to emotions right now – those of others as well as your own.  This can be a good or a bad thing, depending on how you handle it, but chances are you’re feeling extra generous and good-hearted.  Good weather for being with closer friends.

Mid Aries (11-20 degrees)

Moon trine Moon+Mars and opposite Pluto/Moon trine Neptune/Moon sextile Venus/ Moon in the 11th House

Here’s where you get even more sensitive, possibly to the point of touchy.  Watch out for feeling confused and remember there is plenty of opportunity to find a kind ear to hear you if you look for it.

Late Aries (21-30 degrees)

Moon trine Saturn / Moon conjunct Mercury

You come back up for air and start dealing with the practicalities again.  This is a great time for getting work done, especially anything you’ve been procrastinating.

MOON IN TAURUS

Early Taurus (1-10 degrees)

Moon sextile Jupiter+Ascendant

Good weather to keep on moving.  You might be having second thoughts or wanting to just stay in and away from people but you’ll be a thousand times more successful if you just keep moving now.

Mid Taurus (11-20 degrees)

Moon sextile Midheaven/Moon sextile Uranus/Moon square Moon+Mars

Watch out for being too hard on yourself.  Also do your best not to overextend your energy in places you aren’t actually that invested in.

Late Taurus (21-30 degrees)

Moon conjunct Sun and Square Saturn / Moon in the 12th House

Great time for new intentions but again, watch out for being too hard on yourself.  Pay attention to your dreams.

MOON IN GEMINI

Early Gemini (1-10 degrees)

No Activity

Hurry up and wait.  But keep paying attention to those dreams until the Moon is out of Gemini– they might be trying to tell you something.

Mid Gemini (11-20 degrees)

Moon square Midheaven/Moon sextile Moon+Mars and trine Pluto/Moon opposite Neptune/Moon conjunct Venus

Deep emotions trying to get to the surface. Better weather for staying in but also super conducive to any sort of creative expression.

Late Gemini (21-30 degrees)

Moon sextile Saturn

Hard work and concentration helps you get past whatever’s been haunting you.

MOON IN CANCER

Early Cancer (1-10 degrees)

Moon conjunct Jupiter+Ascendant/Moon in the 1st House

You’re able to start connecting with people again.  People are drawn to you and you feel very strongly like helping them out.

Mid Cancer (11-20 degrees)

Moon trine Midheaven/Moon trine Uranus/Moon square Pluto

This weather could go either way: you’re feeling extra confident and powerful and using this to get ahead – or you’re obsessing over something in a very compulsive way and it’s totally holding you back.  Your choice.

Late Cancer (21-30 degrees)

Moon sextile Sun/Moon square Mercury/Moon in the 2nd House

Here’s where your mood stabilizes in the best of ways.  Good for being around people.

Happy Stars!

Mars in Cancer

2 August 2011

Mars moves into Cancer overnight tonight at 2:22 am (pacific daylight time).

Mars is aggressive, masculine energy.  Cancer is an introverted, feminine sign.  The gumption of Mars can sometimes be drowned out by the water of Cancer.  Likewise, the moodiness of Cancer can sometimes be exacerbated by the assertiveness of Mars.

But the two do have a thing or two in common:  Cancer wants to protect and defend - and Mars can provide the energy to give that protection.  Cancer is patriotic - and Mars rules over soldiers and all the armed forces.

Mars in Cancer is a good time for all of us to put more energy into taking care of and protecting the people we love.

Wherever Mars is travelling through your chart at any given time is a good place to focus your energy for very productive results.  Look to the House where Cancer falls in your chart to see where you can put your focus between now and late September, when Mars will move into Leo.

Just don’t get too defensive,

Adeline

Back to Mercury Retrograde

2 August 2011

Mercury goes Retrograde TONIGHT at 8:50 pm (pacific daylight time).

Mercury Retrograde happens three times a year.  It’s the time to slow down and take a second look at the details.  Mercury Retrograde is great for going through closets and drawers and reorganizing schedules and situations.  Mercury Retrograde is all about getting things untangled.  If we use it right, it can be the healthiest of breaks to help us get back to business.

Mercury is currently at the first degree of Virgo and will be travelling back to Leo for most of the Retrograde period.  Leo can be overdramatic.  It’s the sign of the lion, it roars. Make sure to keep your own cool for the next three weeks, and try not to take it personally when other people can’t seem to do the same.

Happy Untangling,

Adeline
