More Moon Void

1 August 2011

The Moon went VOID at 4:38 pm (pacific standard time) and won’t be active in Libra until overnight Tuesday to Wednesday. That’s another 36 hours or so from now.

This is a particularly strong moonvoid as it’s happening during Mercury’s switch to Retrograde tomorrow evening.  Be patient with yourself and with other people too.

Take some time off, if you’re able.

More about what happens when the Moon goes Void HERE.

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

All sorts of echoes from the past will be washing up over the next few days as Mercury switches to reverse motion and Neptune returns to Aquarius for one last hurrah.  Don’t fault yourself if you feel like you’re a step behind this week, we all do.  Remember the Grand Cardinal Cross?  It’s back.  Mars moves into Cancer overnight Tuesday to Wednesday triggering the whole thing all over again.  By now we’ve acclimated to the stress a bit, but remember: Mars is active, aggressive energy.  Watch for whatever issues that have surfaced for you so far this summer to be amped to new levels in the coming weeks.  The bright side of that is it will force many of us to start working toward a resolution instead of just waiting for the trouble to pass.

Mercury goes Retrograde tomorrow night at 8:50 pm (pacific daylight time).  By now many of us are well versed on Mercury Retrograde:  don’t take it too seriously but make a lot of plan B’s.  Mercury will be travelling backwards through Leo for much of this current retrograde, so watch out for drama queens all over the place and try to keep a lid on your own histrionics.  Remember that there’s a creative solution for almost every problem that pops up, and you’ll probably be able to find it.

Lots of people will be testing their luck this week.  This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as long as you’re keeping it respectful.  Rewards rarely come without risks and there’s opportunity right now to make whatever chances you take reap results that last for a long time to come.   Neptune returns to Aquarius just before the weekend for a final six months before moving back into Pisces in February of next year.  Pay attention to what you’re dreaming about.

ARIES

Watch out for picking fights you have no way of winning.  Your Mars ruler moves into Cancer where it will be challenging all of the outer planets for the next few weeks.  Aries is all about action - but remember your impulsive side too.  Stop and think about why you’re doing what you’re about to do before making any moves and you can avoid sparking wildfires.  Concentrate on what you have to do to get your own situation back together instead, and you’ll find you have way more patience for the small stuff.

TAURUS

Use your words.  As much as you might just want to sweep them under the rug, there’s no avoiding talking about the big issues this week.  Think of it less as a chore and more as an investment, and you might even find yourself looking forward to some important conversations.  You’re not a big fan of any kind of conflict,  but remember:  things are liable to get misunderstood all over the place right now with Mercury in Retrograde.  Say what you mean and mean what you say.  Just try to do it gently.

GEMINI

Bearing the brunt.  Watch out for short tempers and shallow judgments all over the place this week as your Mercury ruler makes an about face from Virgo, a challenging sign.  Others might be taking all sorts of things out on you but at least you’re not taking it personally.  You’re more able to see people’s true motivations right now, and that’s helping you understand the whole story.  If you’ve missed a detail somewhere that’s causing you grief, trust that there’s plenty of time coming up this month to go back and set things straight.

CANCER

You’re looking for good times more than usual, just make sure it’s not all about burying your head in the sand.  These are the right days to live it up for a bit, as long as you can remember what’s ahead of you.  You’re more than ready to deal with absolutely any challenges, as long as you’re keeping your eyes open while you have some fun.  Look the other way and reality might hit you hard as soon as next week.  Mind your basic responsibilities and you’ll earn your right to a well-deserved respite.

LEO

You have more time than you think.  You’re staying busy and productive, but there’s something you feel like you’ve left undone.  Double check your details this week, but don’t confuse awkward anxiety for unquestionable intuition.  You might have left the iron on, but it’s not going to burn down the house.  Don’t let any worries interfere with the fun that you’re actually having right now.  You have the ability to balance equal parts work and play this week, and doing just that will help you feel like yourself all over again.  Just keep moving.

VIRGO

Watch out for false starts.  Make sure whatever it is you’re striving for is really the thing that you want to be doing.  The best place you can put your energy right now is toward improving the talents you already have.  The more you stick to your genuine interests and strengths, the more you’ll be helping the rest of us. Remember that when you’re feeling frustrated.  If you can focus on the good stuff, the next weeks will have you redistributing your energy in ways that will help you accomplish whatever you set your mind to.

LIBRA

You’re starting to pick up momentum.  Now that Mercury’s going Retrograde, it’s a good time to review what you’re doing right and where you still might need some help.  There’s plenty of support out there for you, should you choose to accept it.  You’re in a place right now where you’re able to attract all kinds of people and situations that believe in you and want to back you up.  The support could be emotional, financial, or both - but in any case it’s going to help you start seeing that you’re finally on the right track.

SCORPIO

Choose your own adventure.  All you have to do right now is keep your eyes on the details and stay true to yourself.  You know more than anybody that spending valuable energy on the things you’re not invested in just tires everybody out in the long run.  Look at the reasons behind why you’re really getting involved in this week’s big situations and make sure they’re really worth the effort.  You want to be experiencing as much as you can these days, just remember what you do and don’t experience is completely up to you.

SAGITTARIUS

You have everything you need.  Look to all of the times you’ve been forced to be resourceful in the past, and remember how well you always get through.  Chances are you’re pretty excited right now to have the chance to show the rest of us your MacGyver side.  If, on the other hand, you’re letting the worry trip you up, then it’s a good time to surround yourself with as many things as possible to do.  Keeping busy this week will help you understand just how much you can accomplish when you believe in yourself.

CAPRICORN

You’re finally moving forward again, just in time for Mercury Retrograde.  Take your usual care in double checks and balance, but then give yourself a break and come hang out. The knowledge you’ve earned about how to make it through certain sticky spots will be even more powerful once you start sharing it with the rest of us.  Watch out for plenty of opportunities this week to take some important relationships to a whole new level.  The alternative involves closing yourself off to big possibilities simply from a fear of getting too close.

AQUARIUS

Pay it forward.  Think about all ways you rely on the world around you everyday and what you can do to be there for the world when it needs you right back.  Aquarius, typically the most detached of all the signs, has learned a thing or two about truly connecting over the past few years.  As Neptune returns to your sign for a final six months, you’ll be asked to prove this to the rest of us.  The more you can do for other people this week, the more you’ll start to understand about yourself.

PISCES

Man up.  You’re reacting to a certain situation in one of two ways:  either you’re facing it head on, with complete confidence that you’ll be able to master the lesson it’s trying to teach you – or you’re hiding away, too scared the risks aren’t worth the rewards.  If the second option sounds more like what you’re up to, know this: you have every resource at your disposal to get through the challenge.  You’re about to see that the more you can be straight up with the whole story, the more you’ll start to free yourself.

New Moon in Leo

29 July 2011

It’s a dreary, dark of the Moon kinda Friday in these parts, but tomorrow’s all about here comes the Sun.

The New Moon in Leo takes place just before noon tomorrow, at 11:40 am (pacific daylight time).

New Moons are always the time for new beginnings.  If there’s anything you want to get started in your life, a New Moon is always a good time to begin taking steps to make it happen.

New Moons are a good time to set new intentions in motion as well.  Intentions that align with the sign the New Moon falls in are especially potent.  Leo is a sign that’s all about creativity.  Ruled by the Sun, Leo likes to shine.  It is warm, generous, and bright enough to fill up a room - but it definitely wants attention.

Tomorrow’s New Moon in Leo is coming during a summer that hasn’t been the smoothest ride for most of us.  Now we have a chance to begin creating what we want for ourselves, Leo style, making the most of who we are, strutting our stuff.

If we don’t start focusing on the shiny stuff, we’ll just get more mired in the drag.

Today is a great day to start thinking about what it is you want to create, and tomorrow the perfect time to start doing it.  (If you know the HOUSE where the New Moon will fall <7 degrees Leo 16> think about some intentions you might be able to make in that area as well).

Well We All Shine on,

Adeline

Mercury in Virgo (for a minute)

28 July 2011

Mercury moves into Virgo at 10:59 am (pacific daylight time).

Mercury is communication, and Virgo is order.  In Virgo, Mercury will be much more concerned with perfection.  In Virgo, Mercury gets more curious about details, more structured about how it communicates. Virgo is one of the signs that Mercury rules (the other is Gemini).  Planets obviously feel right at home in the sign they rule, and in Virgo, Mercury is the head of the household.

But here’s the thing.

Mercury will be turning Retrograde this coming Tuesday night and heading straight back into Leo on August 8.  This next 10 days is a preview of Mercury in Virgo, but it won’t really be that season until mid-September.

Mercury is already slowing down in preparation to go backwards, so some of that tricky business has already begun.

Be safe out there this weekend y’all.

Adeline

Venus in Leo

28 July 2011

Venus moved into Leo at 7:59 am (pacific daylight time).

Venus has been in Cancer all month.  Cancer is yin, Leo is yang.  Cancer is maternal, introverted, soft. Venus in Cancer is kind of a homebody. Venus in Leo wants to show off.

Venus in Leo wants to perform and be seen and admired all over the place.  Venus in Leo will bring some passion back to attraction and relationships. Everybody will be a lot louder about going for what they want for the next three weeks.

Who’s feelin’ shinier already?

Inner vs. Outer Planets

The Inner planets are the ones that move fast:  The Sun and the Moon (which are actually stars not planets but we’ll say “planets” anyway, for simplicity’s sake), Mercury, Venus and Mars.  Most of these planets typically move through one sign a month - except for Mars, which usually spends about two months in each sign.

Then there’s Jupiter and Saturn - they’re kind of the middle ground.  Jupiter typically stays in one sign for about a year, Saturn for two and a half years.

The Outer planets are the ones that move super slow:  Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.  The planet Uranus typically stays in one sign for about seven years.  Neptune stays in one sign for about 14 years, and Pluto - the biggest badass of all, stays in one sign for anywhere from 14-30 years.

So there’s a big difference in the way Inner and Outer planets affect us, both by transit and in a birth chart.

The inner planets move the fastest, so they’re the ones that build our basic personality in a chart.  The Sun is our essence, the Moon is our emotions, Mercury is how we communicate, Venus is what we’re attracted to, Mars is our basic energy drive.  These things all shift a bit from day to day, making every single birth chart unique.

The outer planets, on the other hand, move so slowly that we all tend to have them in common.  Chances are, if you’re reading this blog, you have Pluto in Virgo, Libra or Scorpio.  Everybody born around the time you were born will likely have Uranus, Neptune and Pluto in the same sign as you.  They’re generational.  As the outer planets shift signs, the general flavor of the world and what we’re all going through shifts as well.

We’re in the middle of this process right now, in 2011, with the planet Uranus freshly in Aries, Neptune on the cusp of Aquarius and Pisces, and Pluto in the earliest degrees of Capricorn, and staying there for another 13 years.  Things are shifting all around us as the outer planets move into brand new territory.

The inner and outer planets also affect us differently by transit.  Transits from the inner planets: the Sun, the Moon, Mercury and Venus, typically affect our chart for a day or two (the Moon only for a couple of hours!).  Mars moves a bit slower, so those transits can affect us for about a week.

Transits from outer planets, on the other hand, can affect us for years and years and years. They bring weather that changes us, gradually but suddenly, we’re always different on the other side.  Transits from outer planets aren’t typically easy, but they always make complete sense in retrospect.

Happy Stars,

Adeline

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

All the world’s a stage.  There’s a lot more action in the coming days with Venus and Mercury both changing signs just before Saturday’s New Moon.  Look for unpredictable shifts, especially in romantic circumstances, and make sure you’re really hearing what you think you are in every important conversation.  Mercury will be turning retrograde a week from Tuesday, and in opposition to the planet Neptune for several days before and after.  That’s great weather for daydreams, but also getting lost in them.  Mercury opposing Neptune can also mean a whole lot of foggy, even dishonest communications.  Double-check the facts.  The good news is, most of us will be making nice this week.  But nice doesn’t have to mean humble.  Venus joining the Sun in Leo just before the weekend makes it a good time for all of us to show off what we’ve got.

ARIES

Do what you’re best at.  You’ve got some exciting possibilities coming your way, and if you can use the enthusiasm to begin moving toward them, you’ll be able to discipline yourself in ways that get you everywhere.  Just make sure it’s genuine.  Right now is a lot more about improving the things you already have naturally and not at all about putting on airs to convince the rest of us.  Saturday’s New Moon in a fellow fire sign is a great time to get something started. Even the smallest gestures will count.

TAURUS

Use your imagination.  Something you’ve recently been given has way more benefits than you can see so far.  Find your creativity and your confidence, and you’ll find yourself overcoming things that have been stilting you for weeks.  Your other option is to stay on the down low and wait any problems out, but there are plenty of ways to start making your circumstances better immediately, as long as you let yourself see them.  Here’s a hint:  it’s a lot about using something you’ve already got in a way you haven’t thought about before.

GEMINI

Don’t sell yourself short.   As much as you feel like giving in to the circumstances around you right now, you’re ignoring all the resources you have at your disposal, as well as your support system.  You’re going to get the thing you’re striving for.  It might not manifest for you when you were expecting it to, and it might come in a completely surprising disguise, but you still have plenty of options for making it happen.  Saturday’s New Moon in a friendly sign is the perfect place to start taking a fresh step forward.

CANCER

Be ready for anything.  You might be asked to take the lead when you absolutely weren’t expecting to.  The tricky part comes with not taking it too seriously.  You already know what you need to do, and of course you’ll do it well.  Take care of the big picture this week, and try to keep your eyes off of the superficial details.   You’ll be surprised at how efficient you can be. Next week: Mars enters your sign for a seven-week stay, helping you get your gumption (and maybe your grumpiness) back.

LEO

Happy Birthday!  Venus enters your sign just in time for the Leo New Moon and you’re all about showing off your pretty side.  You’ll have opportunities at every turn right now to make your mark on the world.  Even better, you’ll be able to find ways to share what you’re finding with friends from every corner of your life.  Know you can create whatever you want for yourself this year, and start creating it.  It’s as simple as that.  Anything you’re letting go of right now is all about making space for something even better.

VIRGO

Mercury enters your sign for a ten-day stay on Thursday.  The planet that rules you will turn Retrograde next week and move back into Leo for the better part of August.  Right now is good not so much for moving ahead with things you’ve been planning, but for taking a closer look at those specific plans.  Reorganize, reconsider, rework.  You have a good month to perfect the details before you can start moving completely ahead.  This week is perfect for coming back to whatever loose ends you’ve been putting off.  Pay attention to your intuition.

LIBRA

Shine on you crazy diamond.  You’ve got plenty of opportunity to step out and show the rest of us how far you’ve come, as long as you realize that for yourself.  You’ve been learning the hard lessons for longer than you can remember, but you’re starting to see how they’ve taken you to a stronger place.  This week is the time to start using that foundation, more than just thinking about how much has changed.  Your Venus ruler moves into Leo territory just before this weekend’s New Moon in Leo, helping you access your shiny side.

SCORPIO

You’re starting to see some beyond positive results.  Look around you right now and you’ll begin to realize how many things are absolutely starting to come true for you.   As much as you’ve still got some hurdles to cross, you’re more ready than you’ve ever been.  Take inventory this week, of everything that’s on the right track, and start making plans to correct what’s not.  You’ve got more time than you think you do to build this situation right.  The more you focus on the small stuff right now, the faster you’ll be able to get there.

SAGITTARIUS

Your turn.  Whatever’s going on for you is set in motion, it’s not changing anytime soon, and it’s time for you to take control of the situation.  That sounds scary, but it’s really just asking the questions you’ve been meaning to ask, and deciding what you’ll do with the answers.  You’ve been putting it off for far too long, mainly from the fear of responsibility.   It might help to know that the more you show your authority this week, the more admiration you’ll get from exactly the person you’ve been trying to impress.

CAPRICORN

You expect the best from yourself, that’s a given. But is that particular “best” based on your terms, or what you think the rest of us expect?  This week, it’s more about remembering the standards you’ve set for yourself than keeping up with any sort of Jones.   There are plenty of improvements still to be made, but keep it positive. Write a list of still to-do’s, and give yourself room to appreciate what you’ve already accomplished.  Knowing for sure what you’ve done well is the best way to be confident in what you’re about to do.

AQUARIUS

Here’s where everything you’ve been going through starts to pay off.  You’re in for a week full of good times and gumption and getting things done.  Use it to start making the most of this summer, but make sure not to do it alone.  The New Moon in your opposite sign is always a good time for making fresh intentions toward your most important relationships. You’re about to find a brand new way of doing things that brings you closer to the people you really love than you’ve ever been before.

PISCES

Pay attention to your day-to-day world, especially any one on one conversations.  The more you can be objective about what you’re hearing, seeing and saying, the less susceptible you’ll be to anybody else’s negative vibes.  There’s a lot going on all around you but now is the time to concentrate on taking care of your own business, without letting anybody else’s trip you up.  The thing about words is they can be taken about a million ways.  Don’t react to anything you’re told this week until you have the time to make some sense of it.
