The Moon moved into Virgo at 6:15 pm (pacific daylight time).
Virgo is the Mutable Earth sign.  Ruled by Mercury, it’s the sixth sign, and therefore associated with the 6th House of work and health and service. Virgo needs order, Virgo wants things to be just right.  More than any other sign, Virgo is methodical.
Here’s Madonna, who’s actually a Leo Sun with Virgo Rising, Moon, and Mercury.  And Madonna is totally methodical in her own shiny Leo way.
When the Moon’s in Virgo, people start noticing details.

Horoscopes for July 4 - 10, 2011

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

Relationships are going through major shifts this week as Venus, newly in Cancer makes a series of contacts to all of the outer planets and Jupiter.  Watch out for getting too caught up in drama or dreaminess and remember that there’s also good energy out there for just plain hard work.  That’s the easiest solution for taking your mind off whatever’s overwhelming you right now.  The planet Uranus goes retrograde on Saturday evening for the next five months.  Watch for readjustments to situations that began this past Spring.  Next week: the Full Moon in Capricorn.

**If you know your Rising Sign and Moon signs, be sure to read for those too!

ARIES

Dress Rehearsal.  Think about what you’ve been through since the year began.  Major things have happened all over the world, but what’s happened big for you personally? You’re at a definite turning point, and chances are it’s not going quite fast enough for your liking.  You want to take action, but you don’t know what that action should be.  This is a good week to just start moving.  Do whatever you can to stay productive, and don’t be afraid to show off a little.  Playing the part is what will make things start to happen.

TAURUS

You’re still busy building bridges.  This week, the caution is in making sure any communications you’re sharing with other people are as clear and direct as possible. You’ve got big ideas, and plenty of ways to make them happen, but there’s also the danger of only seeing what you want to believe.  You’re being less careful than usual lately about checks and balances.  Go back and look at the details of a certain situation you’re trying to build for yourself.  You’ll be faced with proving the strength of the foundation as soon as next week.

GEMINI

Watch your words. A casual conversation could bring a twist that’s completely unexpected, and you might end up letting your ornery side get the best of you.  It’s important to remember that there are plenty of peaceful ways to get what you’re looking for.  The more you can put your own spin on the situation you’re in, the more people will start to understand what you need from it.  Give yourself plenty of space this week and you’ll be able to find your objective side much sooner than you thought you would.

CANCER

Growing pains.  You’re reorganizing more than a few circumstances in your life right now, and that’s not the most comfortable process.  Remember how out of control certain situations were only a few weeks ago, and you’ll remember how much authority you really have.  As long as you can recognize your own ability to take the lead others will be able to see it too.  But don’t be afraid to ask for help where you need it. You might have to dig deep to find your energy this week. Remember it doesn’t all have to happen at once.

LEO

Take some time out.  There’s a lot of idle chatter in your background these days but if you can step away from it, the next couple of weeks are absolutely perfect for doing things you always mean to do but never get around to.  Like the beach and books and being by yourself.  Your upcoming birthday season is going to be fast, memorable, and full of activity.  Get to know yourself better before the big rush begins.  This won’t only make you look prettier under the spotlight, it will help you feel a thousand times more confident.

VIRGO

You might be required to take command of something this week.  Luckily you’re more than equipped to do it in a way that helps the situation get resolved faster than it turns into rebellion.  If you feel at all anxious, do your best to just play the part of confident leader until it starts to feel right, and that will be much sooner than you’re anticipating.  Once you discover this side of yourself, there might be no stopping you. Next week: the Full Moon in a fellow Earth sign helps to stabilize the situation.

LIBRA

This week, you need people.  It’s not that you aren’t completely independent and getting stronger by the day, but right now being around others is the one thing that makes you feel like yourself.  You’re feeling the weight of the heavy shifts and turns happening in your situation right now.  You’re more than able to handle what’s going on, and you’ll continue to be, but right now you need validation.  Make connecting with friends you hardly get to see anymore a top priority this week.  You’ll absolutely be glad you did.

SCORPIO

Scorpio digs deep.  There’s something you want to get to the bottom of this week, and you’re looking in every single corner for clues.  Chances are it has to do with a relationship.  Here’s the one thing you need to figure out for yourself first: is this really something you need to know?  Or are you trying to validate a story you made up in your imagination?  Be as objective with yourself as you possibly can.  Chasing the wrong shadows right now could lead to exposing your own as soon as next week’s Full Moon.

SAGITTARIUS

You have some challenging conversations ahead of you this week, but again, it’s all about your confidence and how you’re looking at things.  You have more power than you realize you have, and absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.  Mistakes you’ve made in the past have taught you more than they’ve failed you and not only do you know better this time around, your openness about any past transgressions will plainly illustrate your sincerity.  Again, the more you can pretend you’re completely comfortable in any confrontation, the more you’ll actually start feeling that way.

CAPRICORN

You’ve got all the discipline you need this week, as well as the space to think clearly, and that’s keeping you sane and satisfied.  It’s perfect weather to continue forging ahead with whatever your current projects are and getting people behind you to help make the push.  The only caution is in keeping your cool during any minor upsets. It’s not that you’re feeling moody, just too comfortable to get your boat rocked. Remember that the dust won’t be settling any time soon, and you’ll be able to stay detached.

AQUARIUS

Keep doing things your way, keep pushing forward, but don’t forget all the lessons you’ve learned, or you’re liable to live them all over again.  This includes in situations that have just recently been shaken up.  As the planet Uranus (which rules your sign) turns retrograde and Neptune, also travelling backwards, approaches its return to Aquarius, you’re reliving certain issues you thought you were done with.  The good news is, this time around you’ve learned what you need to do to get it right.  You’ll soon realize what you’re really getting is a second chance.

PISCES

The weather this week is enabling you to see all the things you don’t have to change. You’ve improved certain things about yourself this year, but even more, you’ve changed your perspective, and this is what will be making whatever happens next a more valid experience for you and everybody else involved.  Be wary of anybody trying to convince you to make changes that seem counterintuitive. Your intuition right now is all about helping you stay with your strengths, and that’s what anyone who really loves you is trying to help you do as well.

Venus in Cancer

3 July 2011

Venus moves into Cancer tonight at 9:17 pm (pacific daylight time).

Venus has been in social, chatty Gemini since early June.  Venus in Gemini wants to be out and about, Venus in Cancer is way more of a homebody.  Venus in Cancer will take the very best care of you.  Venus in Cancer will bake you a pie.

Venus is currently moving faster than both the Sun and Mercury, and will be making several aspects to outer planets in the coming days (while she completes her part in the Grand Cardinal Cross).

The first of these happens tomorrow morning, with a trine to Neptune, the planet that’s all about sparkle and fog.  It’s super dreamy weather out there right now, but not necessarily stable.

Anybody crushing hard?

The Moon moves into Leo at 2:43 (pacific daylight time).
Leo creates.  It’s the fifth sign, associated with the 5th House of creativity and expression.
Leo is the fixed fire sign, ruled by the Sun. Leo wants to shine. Here’s Leo Mick Jagger, and lord knows the man can put on a performance.
When the Moon’s in Leo, people create situations and things that get them noticed.

Mercury in Leo

2 July 2011

Mercury moved into Leo last night at 10:48 (pacific daylight time).

Leo (dramatic) + Mercury (communication) = Dramatic Communication.

This doesn’t necessarily mean bad dramatic.  People will be expressing themselves more, there will be more passion behind words and thoughts, social situations will get shinier.

Speaking of which, as of this afternoon, the Moon will also be in Leo - amping the shiny social vibe of this holiday weekend to fiery, passionate, Leonine heights.  Have fun out there, remember to be safe!

Fireworks!!!!

(PS: Mercury will be turning retrograde at the 1st degree of Virgo in early August and returning to Leo for the rest of that month through early September)

Houses

An astrological chart is typically divided into sections, like slices of a pie.  These twelve sections are called “houses”, but it might be easier to look at them more like “rooms”.

Let’s say the house above has 12 different rooms (ok we’re going to use that term super loosely and call some areas on the property “rooms” as well).

The facade, the porch and the doorway symbolize the 1st House:  the appearance, the personality, how one perceives (standing in that front door) and approaches the world.  The 1st House is associated with Aries, the 1st sign.

The gigantic walk-in closet off the master bedroom symbolizes the 2nd House:  the place where we keep our resources (there’s a safe in that closet where all the money and jewelry are kept).  The 2nd House is associated with Taurus, the 2nd sign.

The living room or den symbolizes the 3rd House:  where we communicate with others and take in information (via tv, phone and internet). The 3rd House is associated with Gemini, the 3rd sign.

The kitchen symbolizes the 4th House: home, family, comfort food. The 4th House is associated with Cancer, the 4th sign.

The children’s rooms, and especially their playroom would embody the 5th House:  a place for fun and creativity and self-expression.  The 5th House is associated with Leo, the 5th sign.

The servant’s quarters would symbolize the 6th House of work and service.  The 6th House is associated with Virgo, the 6th sign.

The master bedroom would symbolize the 7th House of marriage and partnerships.  The 7th House is associated with Libra, the 7th sign.

The bathroom would symbolize the 8th House of shared resources.  The 8th House is all about sex, death, and taxes: the things we all share but that are too taboo to talk about.  The 8th House is associated with Scorpio, the 8th sign.

The study, or library would symbolize the 9th House of beliefs and experience.  Especially if it were stuffed with plenty of exotic, philosophical books.  The 9th House is associated with Sagittarius, the 9th sign.

Dad’s Office would be the 10th House of career and public persona.  The 10th House is associated with Capricorn, the 10th sign.

The front parlor, where they entertain,  would be the 11th House of groups and friendships.  The 11th House is associated with Aquarius, the 11th sign.

The backyard, where all sorts of things are buried, would symbolize the 12th House of the hidden and unconscious.  The 12th House is associated with Pisces, the 12th sign.

These are of course, hyper-generalized definitions, but you get the basic idea.

Houses aren’t nearly as complicated as they sound, they’re simply the different sections of the chart that represent the different sections of our lives.

On that note, it’s Independence Day weekend here in the states.  This holiday would be especially associated with the 4th House (patriotism, tradition, family) as well as the 5th (Celebrations), the 1st House (of independence) and the 11th (Friendships).

Have Fun!

HAPPY NEW MOON !!!
The Moon turns New, and the Solar Eclipse is exact at 1:54 am (pacific daylight time).
It’s a New Moon, so it’s a new beginning, but there’s also the Solar Eclipse, which makes it extra intense.  Maybe not as clear as we’d like it to be, or maybe way more clear.
Use the best of what you’ve got.  Let it come out of the shadows.

The Moon moved into Cancer at 9:13 am (pacific daylight time).
Cancer is the Cardinal Water sign. Ruled by the Moon, Cancer is the fourth sign, and therefore associated with the 4th House of home and family. Cancer rules over food, cooking, the past, your mother, safety, protection, moodiness, birth and boobs.  It’s also very much associated with patriotism and the public.  Here’s Debbie Harry totally playing that part.
When the Moon’s in Cancer, people go domestic.
**The New Moon will eclipse the Sun overnight tonight/early tomorrow morning (1:54 am pacific daylight time) and go VOID for the remainder of the day less than three hours later.  Tomorrow is perfect for waking up and setting new intentions in motion - just remember to be patient about them.

New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer

30 June 2011

New Moons are always a good time for New intentions.

The one that happens overnight tonight (1:54 am pdt) is particularly powerful.  It’s the last of three eclipses that have been affecting our day to day weather and moods for about a month now, and it’s directly across from Pluto - the planet that brings total transformation.

Try to keep yourself at the top of the wheel today, so you can see the bigger picture.  Any intentions you begin putting into motion tomorrow will be that much stronger. No matter how grim the situation’s been lately, this eclipse can be a turning point.

Are you ready?

***UPDATE:  Astro.com is now telling you which HOUSE things like Solar Eclipses are happening in your chart.  Look at your Personal Daily Horoscope for tomorrow, Friday 1 June, it will  be in the transits listed below the selected transit for the day (the last on the list of “Other Transits Occurring Today”).  More about Houses next week y’all.

Darkside of the Moon

The Dark of the Moon happens every month, just before the Moon turns new. It’s the tail end of one cycle, right before the beginning of another.  The Moon shrinks smaller and smaller in the sky, energy is low.  New things are on the horizon, but the energy won’t be there until the Moon is new.

This is a particularly intense Dark of the Moon because the New Moon is going to be a Solar Eclipse in Cancer, directly across from Pluto, seriously activating the Grand Cardinal Cross.  There is so much up in the air right now, we all want to just get it started somehow - but… it’s the Dark of the Moon.  Combined with the Eclipse, this dark of the Moon means nothing but nothing is for sure until after the Fourth of July.

Wait it out, you’ll be glad you did.

The Moon moves into Gemini at 12:56 am (pacific daylight time).
Gemini is all about communication.  Gemini’s curious, Gemini talks.  It’s the third sign, so it’s associated with the 3rd House, which is the house of day to day activity and our most familiar environment.  Gemini is the Mutable Air sign:  cerebral and adaptable and always on the move.
Gemini knows how to use words.  Here’s Bob Dylan, he has the Sun, Mercury and Venus all in Gemini.  And Bob Dylan’s a genius at working with words.
When the Moon’s in Gemini, people start talking.
