The MOON moves into LEO at 1:48 pm (pacific daylight time).
Leo is ruled by the Sun.  It’s associated with the heart and creativity and absolute generosity too.  Leo’s the Fixed Fire sign, it’s warm.
Leo is the 5th sign, and it rules the 5th House of creativity and children and the things we do for fun.  The 5th House (and Leo) have everything to do with what you’re passionate for.
When the Moon’s in Leo, the mood gets more passionate, and dramatic, and generous too.
~
Remember the planet Uranus in Aries?  Whenever the Moon moves into Leo (or Sagittarius), a fellow Fire sign to Aries, it will make an immediate trine to the planet Uranus, and that will be bringing the individual out in all of us.  The trine between the Moon and the planet Uranus will be exact this afternoon at 2:59 pm (pst).
*
The Moon spends about two and a half days in each sign.  The Moon will be in Leo until Thursday night when it moves into Virgo, the 6th sign.

Mercury Direct!

13 December 2011

Mercury will station DIRECT (ie. return to apparent forward motion) this evening at 5:43 pm (pacific standard time).

Chances are, the past three weeks have left you with some messes to untangle.  Look for almost everything to be resolved by the end of the year, when Mercury gets past its shadow phase.

In the meantime, the weather up there is giving us some space to go ahead and get some stuff accomplished.  This is a good time for celebrations, even if they do involve some tangles.

Horoscopes for December 12-18, 2011

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

GENERAL FORECAST:

Mercury comes out of retrograde tomorrow evening (at 5:43 pm pacific daylight time, 8:43 pm on the East Coast).  Remember: Mercury gets up to its trickiest business during the time it’s switching direction.  Keep taking your time with things for the rest of the week and you’ll likely have all the space and energy you need to keep moving through the mundane and showing up for the fun stuff.  This is not the week to take anybody for granted.  A square between Venus in ambitious Capricorn and Saturn in the sign of relationships over the weekend is all about establishing healthy boundaries and making sure everybody’s putting their fare share in.  Next week: Venus moves into Aquarius, the New Moon in Capricorn, and Jupiter stations Direct (finally!)…

***If you know your Rising Sign and Moon signs, be sure to read for those too!

ARIES

Things are going faster than you’d planned, and speeding up by the minute.  Until this weekend, when you might just get stopped in your tracks.  Venus in Capricorn squaring Saturn in your opposite sign is all about putting the brakes on a certain relationship until you can get some specifics figured out.  This absolutely isn’t a bad thing, but it requires taking some responsibility.  Luckily, that’s a side you’ve been strengthening all year long.  Take the time you need to talk things out and you’ll be seeing the benefits as soon as next week.

TAURUS

Your Venus ruler is confronting the planet Saturn on Sunday morning, and that could be bringing you some reality-checks all week long.  Stay as open minded as possible in any confrontation before jumping into defensive mode or even worse, your stubborn, very most armored side.  Keep it logical and you’ll be able to untangle all the miscommunications that were absolutely nobody’s fault.  You’re not being challenged so much as you’re being dared to do your very best.  Next week’s New Moon in a fellow Earth sign will be opening up all sorts of brand new doors.

GEMINI

Mercury’s making an about face in your opposite sign.  That’s the kind of tricky activity that could be shaking things up all over the place, especially in relationships.  At the very least, it’s bringing plenty of interesting distractions.   Remember to keep an eye on the long road and not just the fun to be had at the moment.   Things will be getting all sorts of dreamy as soon as next week, and those days will be even better if you make the right choices right now.  Do what you can to keep your feet on the ground.

CANCER

Be careful of saying “I told you so…”.  This week’s square between Saturn and Venus is bringing out lots of other people’s lessons to be learned.  . You’ve probably seen most of them coming, but it’s important to remember that people need your sympathy more than any judgment this week.  Even better, using that side of yourself now will help you get reacquainted with it all over again, and that’s going to make things that much more romantic as soon as next week’s New Moon.  Keep it charming: Venus in your opposite sign is trying to get your attention.

LEO

Tomorrow and Wednesday are Go days.  This doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be in the greatest mood of all time, but you will have your share of green lights and gumption, and all the energy behind you to keep moving.  Use it.  The brakes-on vibes this weekend could be keeping you in homebody mode, so it’s good to get stuff of the way while you’re feeling it.  Mercury back to business in a fellow fire sign won’t be hurting anything.  Next week: the planet Venus moves into your opposite sign and the focus moves back to relationships.

VIRGO

The days start making more sense as the week goes by and your Mercury ruler gets back to business in Sagittarius. The square between Venus in Capricorn, a fellow Earth sign, and strict Saturn is actually quite to your benefit:  putting limits on situations that have been getting out of hand and giving you the chance to catch up with yourself.  Do as much of that as you can now, before Jupiter comes out of retrograde in Taurus, your other fellow Earth sign, and enables your circumstances to keep growing exponentially.  Right now, it’s all about staying focused.

LIBRA

Things have started moving again, but be prepared for some delays this weekend, when your Venus ruler in Saturn’s hometown sign squares Saturn itself in yours.  As much as this is bringing some unwelcome challenges, the gold you’ll gain from getting past them is worth a million good days or more.  Hold your head high, man up to even the drudgiest expectations and you’ll be seeing rewards in the form of privileges you certainly weren’t expecting by Sunday.  You get all your grace back next week, when Venus enters Aquarius, a fellow Air sign.

SCORPIO

These are slower days in Scorpio town, but there’s plenty of drama unfolding all around you.  Everything you’re encountering now is illustrating an important lesson you need to learn for yourself.  The benefits of paying attention are epic, but most importantly:  you’ll be able to take some revelations and put them to use before any repercussions from past discretions come back to get you.  In other words, you’ve got plenty of opportunity to right some old wrongs before getting caught.  Next week: Jupiter Direct in your opposite sign puts the focus back on an important partnership.

SAGITTARIUS

You’re feeling way better, and ready to tackle absolutely anything.   Mercury stations direct at the height of your sign tomorrow evening and that’s pushing everything else back into business as well. Never mind what you might have missed in the meantime, be prepared to start staying one pace ahead.  With your Jupiter ruler preparing to return to forward motion as we speak, you’ll pretty much guaranteed to be stepping on the gas pedal for the rest of this year.  Set your sights straight now, whatever you’re choosing to focus on is about to expand into epic proportions.

CAPRICORN

Venus has been up to all sorts of moves since she entered your sign in late November.  That’s been bringing you lovely distractions, but not without some drama attached.  The square between Venus in Capricorn and Saturn in Libra (a sign that Venus rules) happens early Sunday morning.  That’s bringing you a million reasons to set certain things straight and put better boundaries on anything that’s getting in the way.  As long as you’re including the other side’s hopes and wishes in the mix, you’re liable to come to some very welcome compromises.

AQUARIUS

Take the first steps, no matter how unsure of them you might be.  Pretty much the only thing that’s going to start untangling your current dilemma is constant movement.  Even better, that kind of continuous activity is what will attract exactly what you need right now straight into your life.  Mercury’s return to forward motion in a friendly Fire sign is bringing plenty of opportunities for complete serendipity, and you’re being guided straight to just what you’re looking for, as long as you can see that for yourself. Pay attention to your dreams.

PISCES

We’re past the eclipse, Mercury’s direct, things are moving forward, and everything’s a lot less weird.  Pisces might be a little melancholy about that, but only because it’s being forced back into plain old reality.  Luckily we’re in the midst of the holiday season, a force you can easily lose yourself in.  The more joy you can bring into anybody else’s world right now, the more you’re about to realize some very specific things you were always meant to be doing for yourself.

The Moon moved into CANCER at 5:26 am (pacific daylight time).
Cancer is the sign that the Moon itself rules, when the Moon moves into Cancer, it’s like it’s coming home.
The Moon is feminine energy, it’s our emotions, what we need.  In Astrology, the Moon’s the Mother Figure, and Cancer is the sign of the Mother. Cancer is the Cardinal Water sign.  It is the 4th sign and rules the 4th House of home, family, and roots.
When the Moon’s in Cancer, we think more about where we come from, and also what we need.  The Moon in Cancer makes you think about your mama.

Weird Weather.

9 December 2011

The Full Moon in Gemini happens early tomorrow morning (6:36 am pacific daylight time).  Everybody knows about Full Moons - they happen every month, they’re the height of the action.  This one’s also a Lunar Eclipse - so it’s got some added weirdness.  We go through Eclipse Season twice a year.  Eclipse Season can kind of feel like a dream - you’re moving in the same directions and interacting with all the same people but somehow you can feel a subtle shift beneath the surface.  Eclipse Season brings twists to the plot.

Then there’s the planet Uranus, which will be returning to forward motion overnight tonight (11:05 pm pacific standard time), after spending the last six months in retrograde.  This is a planet that brings surprises, and sudden brilliant insights.  This planet’s push forward will be picking up the action for us all.  Even more so because this station is happening at 0 degrees of Aries, the very first point on the wheel of the zodiac.

If you’ve been waiting for new developments, this is the weekend they come flooding out of every corner.  Here it comes!

8 December 2011
The Moon moves into Gemini at 6:52 pm (pacific standard time).
Gemini is the Mutable Earth sign, and it’s ruled by the planet Mercury.  Gemini talks. It’s information, chatter, talking heads.
Gemini is how you express yourself.  It’s the way you use your words.  Gemini is the 3rd sign and rules the 3rd House, it’s how you communicate with your immediate environment.
Gemini is telephones and television sets and newspapers and magazines.  Gemini is curious, it tries to find out a million things at once.
When the Moon’s in Gemini, everybody starts talking.
~
Right now, the Sun and Mercury are both in Sagittarius, Gemini’s opposite sign.  So when the Moon enters Gemini, it opposes the Sun and Mercury.  The opposition between the Moon and Mercury will be exact early tomorrow morning (6:07 am pst), and the opposition between the Sun and the Moon (in other words, the Full Moon) will be exact early Saturday (6:36 am pst).
Remember: an opposition between the Sun and the Moon is always a Full Moon, it typically happens once a month. This weekend’s Full Moon in Gemini will also be a Lunar Eclipse, stay tuned!

Since it’s Wednesday, let’s talk about Mercury

7 December 2011

Mercury is the messenger.  That’s a role that can take lots of forms:  journalists, postmen, bike messengers, anyone with information is a Mercury figure.

Mercury is asexual, it is not completely feminine or masculine.  The astrological glyph for Mercury is just like Venus, with a hat:

Mercury rules the 3rd House of Communication.  The 3rd House is also where you find your most familiar environment: your siblings and neighbors and the borough where you live.  That also includes elementary education and short-distance travel, calculators, computers and cars - things we use every day.  Mercury talks, it learns, it’s curious.

Mercury spends anywhere from a few weeks to two months in a sign.  Mercury travels very close to the Sun at all times.  It speeds up and gets ahead from time to time, and slows way down and gets behind at least three times a year, but it’s never more than one sign away from the Sun.  The conjunction is the only aspect Mercury can ever make to the Sun. In a birth chart, you either have Sun conjunct Mercury, or you don’t.

Mercury in your chart shows how you communicate.

Here are some absolutely oversimplified ways Mercury might manifest through the signs:

Mercury in Aries speaks before it thinks.

Mercury in Taurus is slow to speak.

Mercury in Gemini talks with its hands.

Mercury in Cancer is gentle and introverted.

Mercury in Leo is dramatic, every communication can be a display.

Mercury in Virgo is grammatically correct.

Mercury in Libra is social.  It’s a charmer, but somewhat superficial.

Mercury in Scorpio (or in close aspect to Pluto) is investigative, it digs deep.

Mercury in Sagittarius (or in close aspect to Jupiter) is loud and candid. It tells the Truth.

Mercury in Capricorn (or in close aspect to Saturn) is reserved, it spends its words wisely.

Mercury in Aquarius is smart and strange.

Mercury in Pisces sees beneath the surface of things.

*

Mercury is in the middle of a Retrograde at the moment.  Mercury slows down three-four times a year just before moving in apparent reverse motion for three weeks at at time.  Remember, Mercury has to do with our most immediate environment. Mercury Retrogrades are times to slow down, go back and retrace our steps so that we can firm up details.  They actually work to our benefit once we get past the frustration. Mercury will return to forward motion on December 13.

6 December 2011
The Moon moved into TAURUS at 6:34 am (pacific standard time).
Taurus is the Fixed Earth sign.  It’s calm, cool and collected.
Taurus is what you’ve got.  It’s your resources, material, as well as self-esteem.  Taurus is the 2nd sign and rules the 2nd House - it’s where you start to see what’s yours.
Taurus values.  And it’s all about the senses.  Taurus wants to indulge in the nicest smells, the softest touch, the richest, most decadent tastes.  It indulges the senses. Taurus values pleasure, and it can be all sorts of slow and super lazy.
When the Moon’s in Taurus, the mood gets more decadent.  Everybody just wants to be comfortable.
~
Right now, the planet Jupiter is at the first degree of Taurus, so every time the Moon moves into Taurus, it will make an immediate conjunction to Jupiter, and things get that much more decadent.  The Moon will hook up with Jupiter at 8:36 am (pst) this morning.

So, How’s Your Mercury Retrograde Going?…

5 December 2011

Certain neighborhoods in Los Angeles were without power for over three days last week.  How Mercury Retrograde is that?  I’ve heard about flat tires, keys locked in the car, cell phones showing the wrong time and even bad brakes, the usual stuff.

I keep getting dates and words mixed up and time is slipping through my fingers like sand. Oh and the craziest, most detailed dreams, even scary ones - that are epic and engulfing and that I absolutely can’t remember in the morning.  But then I keep getting hints as the day goes by.  Mercury is retrograde in my 12th House - that’s your unconscious, your dreams, the place where things come full circle.  Oh and I found an old song and started working on it again, that’s my favorite part of Mercury Retrogrades.

We’ve got 8 days left, and the rest of the month til it’s out of shadow and completely over.  What’s been going on for you?

Horoscopes for December 5-11, 2011

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

GENERAL FORECAST:

This morning’s trine between Venus and Mars in sensual Earth signs is still bringing out the sexual tension.  Who’s feeling it?  The rest of the week is a build up to the planet Uranus’s return to forward motion at the first degree of Aries Thursday night, which is almost immediately followed by the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini.  Between Mercury Retrograde, a Full Moon Eclipse and the planet Uranus, that’s a whole lot of weirdness and activity going on in the atmosphere.  At the very least, we’re living through interesting times.  Pay attention.  Find a way to record what’s going on in your story.  Next week: Mercury turns Direct and a square between Venus and Saturn puts some brakes on the love stuff.

***If you know your Rising Sign and Moon signs, be sure to read for those too!

ARIES

Venus the grace has been handing your Mars ruler feel-good vibes all weekend.  Today is the day to use whatever boost that’s given you to go ahead and ask for what you want.  With the revolutionary planet Uranus preparing to return to forward motion at the threshold of your sign, you’re nothing if not antsy.  That’s a good thing, as long as you use the buzz to propel yourself forward and absolutely not for getting tangled up in any kind of what-ifs or drama.  Play your cards right and you’ll see results by the weekend.

TAURUS

Tuesday and Wednesday are your green light days. That means perfect timing for scheduling appointments, making new acquaintances, and going for things you’re normally fairly shy about.  You’re embarking on a new stage that’s all about the expansion of your circumstances.  Any good seeds you’re planting now will be sprouting wildly in the New Year. The trick is in keeping your trademark patience and staying careful and aware - even when it seems like nobody’s watching.  Any missteps could come back to haunt you by next weekend.  Do the right thing.

GEMINI

The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in your sign happens early Saturday morning but chances are, you’re already feeling the vibes starting to build.  Mars in Virgo has been pushing some buttons and challenging you to finally make some changes you’ve been lazy about lately.  But you’re about to see you’re being forced into good places, where you’re actually meant to be.  Now is the time to push the strongest, surest parts of yourself and see how well the rest of us react.  Next week: your Mercury ruler returns to forward motion and everything really starts moving.

CANCER

This week’s Full Moon Eclipse is helping you master some lessons.  Watch out for being overshadowed, and if that happens, don’t let it get your goat.  The planet Uranus’s about face in a challenging Cardinal sign is bringing the significant possibility of surprises, but luckily for you, you’ve been honing what you need for the scenario for months now.  Access your strengths and you’ll pass any pop quiz with flying colors.  The best part is, things keep getting better from here on out.  Sunday, especially, is the kind of day where everything goes your way.

LEO

Access your rebel-savior side.  All of the action going on in your fellow fire signs is brining you big inspiration at the very least, but more importantly some awesome, if atypical revelations.  These likely have everything to do with how you’re affecting the people you work intimately with every single day.  Use the Full Moon weekend to test out any new theories, and watch them work like magic.  You’re about to see just how well being completely yourself liberates everyone around you to do exactly the same.  And that’s making all of you feel better.

VIRGO

Hopefully, you’ve been allowing yourself some distractions over the weekend.  It’s been an important respite before the very active week you have ahead.  Virgo is all about consistency and being prepared.  But the energy right now is anything but predictable. As much as that’s taking you for a wild ride, planets in your fellow Earth signs are giving you all the support you need to keep your feet on the ground.  The less you focus on how annoying all the last minute changes can be, the more you’ll start seeing the adventure behind them.

LIBRA

You’ve been enjoying a rad streak of popularity lately, don’t let anybody else’s turn in the spotlight affect you personally.  You’re about to be confronted with other people’s strong opinions and individual streaks.  The good news is, this will only be disarming if you let it.  Use the weekend’s Full Moon in a fellow Air sign to look at all the ways you’ve learned to stand strong on your own, in order to be the viable half of a partnership.  And then remember, the other side needs to show it off from time to time too.

SCORPIO

Coming back down.  Use the relatively quiet space between now and Thursday to take care of any mundane errands, housework, and whatever business you need to do on your own.  It’s good weather for getting caught up, and that’s exactly what you’ll want to be by this weekend, when there will be plenty of interesting situations to get involved in.  You’re about to be hearing a lot of other people’s secrets.  But it’s important to remember that everything you’re hearing about now has something to teach you about yourself.  Use it wisely.

SAGITTARIUS

The Full Moon Eclipse in your opposite sign has you stressing what’s going wrong in your relationship (or any lack of relationship).  It’s important to remember that you see what you focus on, and what you focus on is up to you.  You have every ability right now to get past whatever mini-dramas hold you back from what you really want to be doing – but it’s up to you to make that your intention.  With the planet Uranus freshly forward in a fellow Fire sign, you’ll be finding it much easier to start thinking ahead.

CAPRICORN

The planet Uranus moving from (apparent) reverse to forward motion in a challenging sign could bring some sudden circumstances out of the blue.  That’s not by any means a bad thing – as long as you’re prepared for some surprises.  Keep the ones you know best close to your heart and think about all you’ve learned since powerful Pluto entered your sign in 2008.  You’re about to enter a chapter that, albeit unpredictable, helps you make the very most of those lessons.  Next week:  Venus asks you to prove it to the people you love most.

AQUARIUS

Wait for something to happen this weekend that opens the floodgates and gets everything moving.  Most of all, try to remember that’s what you’ve been waiting for.  The planet Uranus that rules you has been stalling in retrograde since early July.  That’s when you started to make some big adjustments that you’re just now beginning to acclimate to.  But new developments to the plot probably have you unsure about what you should really be striving for.  You’re about to have the kind of epiphany that helps you completely get where your next energies should be placed.

PISCES

Don’t be afraid to show your boldest colors.  Saturday morning’s Full Moon Eclipse is bringing the climax to all sorts of situations.  You’re about to see how they’re all connected, as well as how one quick fix can make the difference in many parts of your life.  With Mean Mars taking an extended tour of your opposite sign, chances are good you’re dealing with more than your fair share of outside confrontations.  The more you reacquaint yourself with your very strongest assets, the less all that’s gonna get to you in the coming months.

Venus Trine Mars

4 December 2011

Venus is totally flirting with Mars.  A trine between the two will be exact tomorrow morning (7:08 am pacific standard time).

A trine means the planets are working with each other.  When that trine’s between Venus and Mars it opens up the flow of relationships,  things heat up with the love stuff, and even with the stuff that’s not so much like love.  Everywhere you go tonight, people are gonna be inspired.  Have fun with that.

This is not only a good counterpose for the stress Mars has been under lately, it’s also a way more fun place to put any pent up energy you’ve been feeling.  The trine happens between Earth signs so tangible things, things with results you can feel are the perfect place to put your focus.  And that totally includes the physical.
