28 June 2011

The next three months for you are all about controlled expansion.  You’re working very seriously on a project that you want to take to higher, bigger places.  This can lead to a sense of restlessness:  things are definitely expanding, but it’s hard to put your finger on exactly what and when and how.  This process is taking you to bigger places as well, and once it’s over you will be understanding more about yourself and the way you work than ever before.  This will be especially evident during the first week of July:  watch for a situation that brings you to the realization of some things you want to change about yourself or your process.  You have the ability at this time to make strong changes that last well into your future.  There’s also the possibility of becoming overwhelmed by any upheaval at this time:  watch out for bender weather.  The more you can concentrate on taking healthy care of yourself and moving in the direction of growing strong, the more successful you’ll be.

Mid-July will be a time of energy, creativity, and confidence as you learn to channel your emotions and use what you’ve got in a way that benefits not only yourself, but the people you’re working with too.  It’s a time for having as much fun with your friends as possible, and also for meeting new friends.  Relationships that begin for you this month will have very lucky outcomes.  This energy will continue until the end of the month, but by the time July is winding down you’ll be feeling much more practical and sober, ready to get back to work.

Early August is a great time to accomplish tons of hard work.  You’ll be able to channel your discipline and your gumption and make great strides toward whatever you set your mind to.  You’ll also continue to be able to access your creative side, but you’ll be taking everything you do much more seriously.  At this time, you’re concerned with what can realistically happen, and working to get there.   Practical considerations.  This is not to say you won’t still be having fun and expressing your differences all over the place.  Watch for some especially fun times toward the beginning of the second week of August.

Midmonth could bring some challenges, particularly if you’re working toward a goal with other people in a group.  Your ambitions will be quite high and this may cause you to react to situations with more assertion than others are used to seeing from you.  Long buried tensions may come up, but luckily during this same time you have the ability to access your grace in a way that helps you negotiate what you need for yourself without taking anything away from anybody else.

More super fun times are in store for you as August turns into September.  You’ll be feeling the good vibes from everyone around you.  This won’t be a very good time to accomplish hard work, but it is great for putting that energy toward hopes and dreams and friends.  But do keep an eye on all the things you have gotten done over the course of the summer.  You’re likely to see some awesome results of all that you’ve been working toward as soon as mid-September, possibly even some increased resources.  As the month ends, you will be going through another very creative period and coming up with more projects you want to be working on.  Remember, you have all the time in the world to keep creating the things you want to create.  This will help you calm any compulsiveness you might be experiencing, which could lead to unexpected disruptions and accidents.  Instead, use this energy to implement ongoing creative changes in your life and work.

Good Luck!

This sample is a bit over-generalized to protect the anonymous.  After we talk, I’ll customize it more specifically to your situation.  XO

The Sun opposes Pluto at 10:18 pm (pacific daylight time).
The Sun is our heart, our life force, who we are.
Pluto is another kind of force, it’s the power of who we are at our very center.  Pluto is primitive.  It’s regeneration and renewal and rebirth, but whatever needs to be reborn has to get broken down first.
It’s not the easiest process.  Who else feels like they’re being swallowed by a shark?
Tonight’s a good night for just being alone to think about things.  If you’re out and about, remember this weather and see if you can see it playing out.

More MoonVoid, seriously…

The Moon goes Void in Taurus at 9:24 am (pacific daylight time) and stays that way until just after midnight tonight (when it moves into Gemini).

Not the best weather for a Monday, but if you can postpone any super important work for tomorrow that will help.  Taurus Moon Void to me says extreeeeeeeeme laziness.  Things going super slow.

The Moon will go Void again Thursday morning (until just after 9 pacific time and just after Noon on the east coast), ALL DAY long on Friday, and again on Sunday, ALL DAY until Monday evening (just after 6 pacific time and 9 on the east coast).  Sunday’s Moon Void will last 33 hours:  that’s 3 more than last Tuesday/Wednesday’s epic void in Pisces.

This week’s days to be productive: Tuesday, Wednesday, and the second part of Thursday (but spend some time Thursday to set intentions for the New Moon eclipse that happens overnight that night).  Saturday works too.

Days to spend working on your own stuff, writing, making music, taking some time out, what have you:  Monday, Thursday morning, Friday and Sunday (into next Monday).

Moving, just keep moving,

Horoscopes for June 27 – July 3, 2011

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

Can you feel it?  Things right now are as unpredictable as they are powerful, and the last of this season’s three eclipses is looming over the weekend.  Friday’s New Moon Solar Eclipse takes place in Cancer, directly across from Pluto, the planet that brings absolute transformation.  Or, as my current favorite, Mystic Medusa, puts it: Forced Rebirth.  Look for clues about how you’re doing exactly that in your own world.

Following the Eclipse, Mercury and Venus both change signs: Mercury moves into Leo on Friday night and Venus replaces him in Cancer Sunday night.  With the Moon also in Leo over the weekend, everybody will be in the mood for showing off, just make sure you follow the rules.  A square between the Sun and Saturn the disciplinarian at the same time might be putting us all in our places.  Next week:  back to the love stuff.

**If you know your Rising Sign and Moon signs, be sure to read for those too!

ARIES

Be on the lookout for brilliant ideas.  You’re coming up with plenty of options right now, but maybe not recognizing them as viable.  This week, you should consider every single possibility.  Friday’s Eclipse in a fellow cardinal sign is challenging you to reinvent something about the way you’re approaching a certain situation.  It’s as much about finding your differences as it is about finding your discipline.  Luckily, you have the energy right now to do exactly that.  Learn how to combine the two and you’ll be well on your way to overcoming this challenge and more.

TAURUS

Consider any project you’re currently working on that involves other people, and what your goals are in doing it.  Make sure it’s about your own true dedication, rather than attempting to show a side of yourself that isn’t really there.  Networking is one thing, but false representations will only hurt you in the end.  Getting involved on a superficial level leads to superficial bonds.  Working toward something you truly believe in, on the other hand, will enable you to build much stronger bridges.  Your Venus ruler moves into Cancer over the weekend, helping you get your grace back.

GEMINI

Venus and Mars bookending your sign are keeping you focused on some romance.  The thing is, while Mars is in Gemini, it’s a really good time to be putting more of your energy toward the work you have to do on yourself.  You’re making some relatively unexpected changes to your outlook right now (and maybe your appearance), but make sure this is something you’re doing for you and not for someone you’re trying to attract.  Your Mercury ruler’s move into friendly fire territory after the weekend brings new opportunities for creative expression.

CANCER

Friday’s New Moon Solar Eclipse in your sign is all about a fresh start to your brand new year.  You’re making it through challenges and ending up better on the other side. Expect to be uncovering talents you never even knew you had, and using them to their full advantage all over the place.  But it’s up to you to realize this for yourself, and really work on recognizing and honing these new skills.  Put action behind your words this summer.  Even the smallest of efforts can end up paying off in big ways.

LEO

Read for last week.  It’s still a lot about learning to work with what you’re thinking.  Pay attention to what you’re paying attention to.  That’s probably some terrible bumper sticker, but it’s true.  The more you can sway your thoughts to your strengths, the more this week is likely to bring you astounding revelations.  And those revelations will be bringing a brand new, very good fresh start.  Work with this idea throughout this week’s eclipse, and you’re likely to see immediate results.  Mercury enters your sign Friday night for an extended stay, expect to get busy.

VIRGO

Stay creative.  Virgo has the tendency to classify absolutely everything, putting ideas and action into specific compartments where they simply must belong, and ignoring the benefits of coloring outside the lines from time to time.  This is a good week to take what you already know and try to do something completely different with it.  Friday’s Eclipse from a friendly water sign is encouraging you to start a brand new method with the brand New Moon.  Pay attention to your imagination.  You’re about to see amazing opportunities, as long as you can let yourself believe in them.

LIBRA

People need you this week.  You have resources and wisdom that can help illustrate a lesson for the rest of us.  Just remember it’s a lot more about pitching in than being preachy.  Step up to the plate and you’ll be feeling waves of relief once you see how much helping other people helps you.  Friday’s Eclipse is the perfect place to start making this kind of stuff a regular part of your routine.  Venus moves into Cancer on Sunday, amping up the maternal vibes for a while.

SCORPIO

Now that you’re all about cooperation, it’s time to find someone to work with.  This could be personal, professional, or creative, but working toward a mutual goal with someone else right now is sure to reap regal rewards.  You’re able to take what you want for yourself and turn it into a shared experience that improves the situation for everybody involved.  The New Moon eclipse in a fellow water sign is enabling you to share what you’ve got with the rest of us.  If you’re feeling at all limited, you’re looking in the wrong direction.

SAGITTARIUS

You can only reap the rewards you recognize.  Opportunities are everywhere this week, but it’s up to you to see them for what they are.  Be creative about the way you’re perceiving absolutely everything around you, and you’ll soon be seeing synchronicities all over the place.  Sagittarius is known for radiating good will and optimism, and that’s exactly what will attract the good luck back to you.  You have the tendency to scatter your energy, but the more you can focus on what you really want right now, the more you’ll be able to find it.

CAPRICORN

This week, you want to be recognized for what you can do.  Friday’s New Moon Eclipse in your opposite sign is a good opportunity to start sharing more of what you’re doing with the people around you.  You’ve been nurturing a particular ambition for a while now, and the more others can be involved with what you’re trying to accomplish, the more supported you’ll feel.  Allowing their involvement won’t be as easy as it sounds, but it will have enormous benefits in the end.  And Capricorn is always about the final result.

AQUARIUS

Don’t let anything (or anybody) shake your confidence.  This season, it’s mostly about what you think of yourself.  You’ve got plenty of energy right now to put toward all of the things you’re trying to do for you, to get back on the road that’s really right.  Paying attention to other people’s standards is the one thing that will stray you from your path.  Remembering your own is what will help you do what’s true in a way that takes you even better places than where you’ve been hoping to go so far.

PISCES

You’re in a particularly introspective mood during this week’s eclipse, but being around others is what will help you see things about your own situation that you haven’t seen before. Pay attention to how the people around you relate to each other.  Pisces has a deeper understanding of true motivation than the rest of us do.  Use that.  Look at where people are coming from and you’ll start to understand shadows in your own methods that reveal some pretty useful knowledge.  You’ll be seeing the benefits of this new understanding as soon as early next week.

The Moon moved into Taurus at 1:53 pm (pacific daylight time).
Taurus is all about the senses: feel, taste, smell, touch, look.  Taurus loves clean sheets and the kind of bed that just envelopes you.  It’s the second sign, the Fixed Earth sign.
Earth is sensual and Fixed is slow.  Taurus likes to take its time.  Out of all the signs, Taurus most appreciates the things that feel good.
Here’s Kim and Thurston lazing about on clean sheets and Kim (Taurus / Scorpio Moon) is obviously loving it.  Thurston’s a Leo, by the way, also with a Scorpio Moon. These two are super Fixed, they’re for keeps.
When the Moon’s in Taurus, people need to feel comfortable.

Moon’s Void Again

Who else had a crazy, syrupy, dream (or nightmare-like), too much to process kind of week while the Moon went Void for 30 hours in Pisces?

Like so much happening at once can’t understand any of it can’t take action can’t focus can’t move kind of weather?  Any regrets?

Good news kids, it’s happening again.  The Moon goes Void at 3:07 pm (pacific daylight time) and will remain that way until it moves into Taurus almost 23 hours later on Saturday afternoon.

Bright sides:  Seven hours shorter.  Seriously, that’s something to embrace.  And in Aries, not Pisces, so the whole thing will be less… nebulous.  On that note, I’d avoid any kind of confrontation until at least Saturday night. (Which by the way, has plenty of magic to be had as long as you’re looking for it.)

Somebody’s got to be having great stuff happening during all the voids, right?  Revelations, realizations, epiphanies?  There’s *lots* of the MoonVoid coming up for the next few weeks, let’s try to figure out what it’s good for.

This weekend’s gonna turn out right,

xx/AL

About that Grand Cardinal Cross…

Now that the Sun is moving through Cancer, there are planets in all four of the Cardinal signs:  the planet Uranus in Aries across from Saturn in Libra and squaring Pluto in Capricorn across from the Sun and Mercury in Cancer. That’s a mouthful, right?

Look at the picture above and imagine there are cars speeding straight toward each other, chicken style, from every corner.  That’s kind of how it feels.  Tension’s building, things seem to be speeding up, decisions have to be made immediately and anything can (and will) happen.

This stuff’s not going away anytime soon.  It will be increasing in intensity through 2012, and especially potent any time there are planets in Cancer, which activates the whole thing. (That’s because the planets in Capricorn, Aries, and Libra are all there to stay for a long, long time - Cancer, the fourth corner, is especially activated as the faster,  personal planets {the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars} travel through.)

So what to do?  Get brave, hold fast, and make sure your seat belt’s on.  Remember it’s happening to all of us in one way or another.  Try to use it to your benefit, instead of just letting it affect you.

The planet Uranus (currently in Aries) is unexpected upsets from out of the blue, chaos and rebellion and freedom too.  The antidote is being open and ready for anything.

The planet Saturn (currently in Libra) is foundation and discipline and limits.  The antidote is hard work, which totally brings some rad rewards.

The planet Pluto (currently in Capricorn) is power and transformation, destruction that leads to being born all over again.  The antidote is letting go of all resistance.

Do your best.  Chances are, you’ve got some big ideas right now.  Take a chance and try to make them happen.  Work hard toward the things you believe in.  Try to lose any preconceptions. Picture yourself surviving that chicken fight and coming out with more gold and prizes than you were ever expecting in the first place.  Because, if we use it right, this weather is liable to bring some pretty amazing transformations.

Stay Positive,

Adeline

Refresher: Cardinal / Fixed / Mutable

Lots of people are familiar with the Elements in the Zodiac: Fire, Earth, Air and Water.

There are also Qualities to each sign: Cardinal,  Fixed, and Mutable.

Each Quality embodies one sign of each element:

ARIES is the Cardinal FIRE sign, CANCER is the Cardinal WATER sign, LIBRA is the Cardinal AIR sign and CAPRICORN is the Cardinal EARTH sign.

TAURUS is the Fixed EARTH sign, LEO is the Fixed FIRE sign, SCORPIO is the Fixed WATER sign and AQUARIUS is the Fixed AIR sign.

GEMINI is the Mutable AIR sign, VIRGO is the Mutable EARTH sign, SAGITTARIUS is the Mutable FIRE sign, and PISCES is the Mutable WATER sign.

3 Qualities x 4 Elements = one unique combination for each of the 12 signs.

*

Once you start to learn how each Element and Quality can manifest, you start to get the combinations and everything astrological starts to make even more sense.

Here are some keywords:

CARDINAL: beginnings, changes, the Boss

FIXED: endurance, stubbornness, loyalty

MUTABLE: adaptability, fluidity, shifts

FIRE: spirit, passion, warmth, generosity

EARTH: practicality, stability, sensuality, ground

AIR: communication, intellect, thoughts, nerves

WATER: emotion, intuition, feelings, depth

*

The Element describe what motivates a sign, and the Quality describes how it acts on that motivation.

Now put them together.  The Sun is in Cancer right now, so let’s do Cancer, the Cardinal Water sign:

CARDINAL: beginnings, changes, the Boss

+ WATER: emotion, intuition, feelings, depth

Then you start to get a feel for how the sign of Cancer manifests:  it takes charge (Cardinal) and initiates beginnings and changes (Cardinal) in an emotional, intuitive (Water) way.  Cancer is the sign of the Mother.  Like your Mother the Boss (Cardinal), catching you redhanded because she loves you (Water).

*

The Moon is in Aries right now, so we’ll do that next.  Aries takes charge (Cardinal) and initiates beginnings and changes (Cardinal) in a spirited, passionate, generous way (Fire).  Aries is the first sign, the Warrior.  It goes for what it wants.

Aries and Cancer are both Cardinal signs, so they act in the same take-charge, cardinal, initiative way.  But their motivations are different.  Cancer does what it does because of how things feel, Aries does what it does to provoke passion and action.

Both of these CARDINAL signs take action and initiative and sometimes act like the Boss of You (because they’re Cardinal, so that’s just how they roll) - but they have different motivations:  ARIES acts from Impulse (Fire) and CANCER from emotions (Water).

*

Astrology is all about combinations.  The Elements and Qualities are the basic building blocks.  And once you start to work with them, they make perfect sense like riding a bike.

The Moon moved into Aries at 1:24 am (pacific daylight time).
Aries is the first sign.  Aries always comes first.  The Cardinal Fire sign, ruled by Mars, Aries is forward and impulsive and loud. It’s aggressive and often competitive, but warm and generous and super fun to be around.  Aries rules the 1st House, the house of self, and Aries can be very Me Me Me.  It’s the first sign, so it’s associated with infancy (just like Pisces, the last sign, is associated with old age).  It knows what it needs and it wants it as soon as that need is felt.  Aries makes itself heard.
Aries rules the head and hair.  Here’s Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, totally pulling off an Aries thing.
When the Moon’s in Aries, people go all Me First.

Grope for Luna ~

The Moon changes signs every two and a half days.  That makes it the perfect star to watch on a daily basis as you learn to work with Astrology.

Here’s a thing.  The signs are the signs.  When Astrologers are describing the signs, they’re describing how the sign itself operates, not every single person who was born when the Sun was in that sign.  We all have our own unique combination of all twelve signs in our chart.

Think of them like colors.  Let’s say Aries is red.  Red is always red, but the shade and tone can change in infinite ways (think nail polish and paint).  Aries is red and planets are painted in red when they travel through Aries, but the manifestations of the particular shade of red are absolutely never ending.

The planets and signs and where they were at the moment you were born color who you are and the journey you take.  The planets and signs where they are at this moment color the weather in the atmosphere.  The Moon, being the closest, fastest moving planet, colors the general mood of the sky from day to day.

Watch the Moon, watch how the people around you shift from day to day as the Moon changes signs.

You know, when you grope for Luna

Adeline

ps:  that’s a pixies reference

pps:  the Moon moves into Aries overnight tonight (at 1:24 am pdt). For this particular Moon cycle (from Aries through Pisces, not from New to Full) - i’m gonna use rock stars to illustrate the signs.  Hmmm… who should Aries be?

MOONVOID

The Moon changes signs every two and a half days.  While travelling through each sign, it makes a series of aspects to all of the other planets in the zodiac.  It will conjunct the planets in the sign it’s in, square and oppose planets in signs of the same quality, trine planets in the sign of the same element, and sextile planets in the compatible element (Water and Earth are compatible, as are Fire and Air).

The Moon goes Void of Course any time it’s made every major aspect it’s going to make to another planet before entering another sign.  Now that all of the outer planets are in the first ten degrees of their respective signs, the Moon gets void a lot more often, especially when the personal planets are just changing signs as well. Mars, the Sun and Mercury have all changed signs in the last few days.

The Moon goes VOID in Pisces tonight at 7:51 pm (pacific daylight time) and will remain that way until early Thursday morning. That’s almost 30 hours worth of  MoonVoid.

Now that this MoonVoid stuff happens all the time, I’m starting to get to know it a bit better.

It seems to be great for crazy revelations that happen when i get super caught up in work I really love doing, but don’t always make the time to do.  But it also seems to be really bad for motivating myself to do those things (or anything, really) in the first place.

MoonVoid seems to be terrible, horrible, very bad news for shopping or finding anything i actually need - but awesome for finding amazing things when I’m not looking for anything at all.

It’s a lovely time to be with friends doing silly stuff like having a drink on the stoop but really, really bad for chatting on the internet, especially about anything involving emotions. Misunderstandings all over the place.

MoonVoid seems to be bad for forcing absolutely anything, and great for just getting back to yourself.  Watch your weather between tonight and Friday morning.  Notice what’s slowed down, frustrated, or just plain lost.  VOID, versus validated.

(Side Note/PS: the Sun will be trine Neptune early tomorrow morning as well, which will just enable all the laziness and la-di-da that MoonVoid seems to bring).
