NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

GENERAL FORECAST

Mercury moves into Sagittarius this afternoon, a sign-change that will turn all forms of communication from the secretive hush of Scorpio to the blunt, boisterous energy Sagittarius is known for.  Tuesday may have us all even more worried than usual about the changing state of things around us as the Moon in Capricorn runs smack into Pluto. Push that energy outward. Hard work is the best remedy for taking your mind off things, so this is an opportunity for catching up on as much as you can. This week is the quietest we’ll see for a while. As the weekend approaches, things start to lighten up.  Thursday is the perfect day for a long lunch and Saturday night has a stage well set for romantic stuff and dreams coming true.  Just make sure you can decipher the difference between real life and fantasy.  Next week:  Full Moon in Taurus and both Venus and Jupiter return to forward motion.

**If you know your Rising Sign, be sure to read for that too!

ARIES

Mercury’s move into a fellow Fire sign is helping you find your words again, and you’re challenging yourself to get out and take on the world.  Finish your work first.  The energy points in your favor this weekend but any flirting that happens before then will end up being just a paltry distraction.

TAURUS

Now you can see the forest for the trees.  Hardships you’ve been adjusting to lately are all about teaching you invaluable lessons you’ll need in the future.  Remember that this week when circumstances conspire to trigger your doubts. Keep moving ahead and you’ll be rewarded this weekend with a very comfortable Sunday.

GEMINI

Two birds.  You still have some hard work to get through, but the good news is, it’s the kind you can make work for you as well.  Your Mercury ruler’s move into your opposite sign is providing plenty of opportunity for conversation, but don’t get distracted from task before Thursday afternoon, that’s when it’s time to start the celebration.

CANCER

If you’re the kind of person who’s crazy for the holidays, it’s the perfect week for making plans and lists and getting a head start on your shopping.  If you’re not, it’s still a good week to start getting that kind of stuff out of the way. Clearing the decks is the best way to quell any anxiety you’re feeling.

LEO

Your own worst enemy.  You have the chance to find your ground this week, if that’s what you’re looking for.  There are opportunities to create stability all over the place and with Mars, the planet that represents energy and Mercury, the planet that represents communication supporting you from a fellow Fire sign, the stage is set for your success.

VIRGO

Your Mercury ruler moving into a sign that challenges your own means it’s time to start addressing things that are aggravating you. Pay attention to what’s brewing beneath the surface or you may have trouble holding on to your temper in the coming weeks. Say something as soon as you see a problem and try to establish more support than superiority.

LIBRA

The focus for all of us this week is on work, and for Libra, that’s working on an important relationship.  You’ll be happily surprised at how willing the other party is to engage in conversation, and even more pleased about where those talks will take you.  Next week: your Venus ruler returns to forward motion. Pay attention to the way the subplots are shifting.

SCORPIO

Downtime. Now that Mercury and Mars have moved out of your sign you’re likely to have a bit more time to yourself.  Use it wisely.  Challenges that present themselves this week are not without their benefits:  try to see the upside of whatever comes out of the woodwork.  You’re at the very beginning of a very important transformation.

SAGITTARIUS

Here comes the active.  Mercury’s entrance to your sign this afternoon is sure to bring new developments in the people you’re spending your time with.  Mars, meanwhile, is pushing you to try and do too many things at once.  Enjoy the energy but don’t forget about the details. You’ll be launching a certain project sooner than you think.

CAPRICORN

A supportive hand from Mars to your Saturn ruler this coming Sunday is giving you surplus amounts of energy all week long.  You’ll also have more room to think, and that’s exactly what you’ve been waiting for.  Focus on the small ways you’re changing and the big places those changes are taking you.

AQUARIUS

Free to be you and me.  Now that Mercury (the planet of thought) has joined Mars (the planet of action) in copacetic Sagittarius, you’re feeling more like yourself again. You’re never without your idiosyncrasies, the trick is in remembering how they work for you. The Moon in your sign all weekend brings the opportunity to celebrate your new point of view.

PISCES

Forward movement.  This week you’re distracted, but not without direction.  Keep your eyes on your final destination and remember you’ll get there despite a few detours.  Sunday ushers some days of warm and welcome respite:  you’ll be picking up the best kind of vibes and feeling certain and determined as Venus and Jupiter prepare to station Direct.

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

GENERAL FORECAST

Get ready for a busy week.  The Astrological weather is perfect for Election Day, supporting plenty of communication and contact with the outside world.  We’ll have a harder time rousing our energy after the big vote, but Friday night’s New Moon in Scorpio will bring us back in line with our intentions and bring us the push to work with them.  Saturday, the planet Neptune stations Direct (returns from retrograde to forward motion) in Aquarius, giving us more access to our imagination than we’ve had since summer began.  Venus remains Retrograde, moving back into Libra from Scorpio Sunday evening, and remaining there for the rest of the month.  Watch for subtle shifts that clue you in on where your story’s headed.  Next week:  quiet times for catching up.

**If you know your Rising Sign, be sure to read for that too!

ARIES

The good vibrations continue.  Friday’s New Moon is Scorpio is the perfect time for setting intentions regarding how you’ll give back the good you’re being given.  Next week is all about getting back to business.  Watch out for projection in your close relationships when Venus backtracks into your opposite sign over the weekend.

TAURUS

It’s all about being resourceful.  Taurus values their possessions (both literal and figurative) more than any other sign, but lately you’ve been having to make do without a few of your favorite creature comforts. You have everything you need. Use Friday’s New Moon in your opposite sign to aim for maximizing what’s yours for sure and you’ll soon be overflowing with the good stuff.

GEMINI

Nervous energy.  You’re thinking way too much about something and that tactic is only good for distraction. You’ve got a busy week ahead.  The good news is, you’re more than equipped to get through it.  Focus on what you believe in for sure, and you’re bound to come up with some solid, unexpected solutions.

CANCER

Don’t let little bumps in the road of a relationship make you question the things you know for sure.  The New Moon in a fellow Water sign has you feeling right at home, helping you get through what turns out to be a packed week without a bit of drama.  Next week:  it’s all about the details.

LEO

The upcoming New Moon in Scorpio is all about helping you learn how to use challenges to your benefit.  After Neptune returns to forward motion from your opposite sign you’ll be thinking more clearly than you have in months; and next week you’ll have the gumption and the focus to catch up wherever you’ve been lagging.

VIRGO

Get ahead while you can.  Small frustrations may start getting in the way of your master plan as soon as next week, but right now it’s smooth sailing as far as Virgo is concerned.  Use the energy to get a kick-start on the holidays.  All good bets say you’ll be getting stuff done.

LIBRA

Make some peace.  Your Venus ruler is retracing her steps back into your sign for the rest of the month, enabling you to find your manners again.  Friday night’s New Moon is your opportunity to see what can happen when you forgive and forget.  Next week: it’s time to start talking.

SCORPIO

Happy New Moon in Scorpio!  This week has you surrounded with mysteries to be solved, just the way you like it.  You’re up to all sorts of action but nobody’s stopping you.  Monday’s nod from Venus to your Pluto ruler could be the opportunity to start a meaningful relationship or take a good one even deeper.

SAGITTARIUS

Look for meaning in casual conversations.  You’re getting all the information you need this week, but maybe not recognizing it for what it is.  Use the next two weeks to collect your thoughts while your Jupiter ruler gets ready to station direct.  Friday’s New Moon is perfect for fresh starts.  Next week: the busy begins.

CAPRICORN

Just the way you like it.  Use the early part of the week to do what you do best: get stuff accomplished.  Friday’s New Moon in Scorpio is your fresh breath for the weekend, giving you every reason in the world to go out and celebrate. You’re about to be overflowing with energy:  the good kind.

AQUARIUS

This week’s New Moon is an opportunity to get past whatever’s been blocking you on your way to the top. It’s all about loyalty.  Look to the people who are there for you no matter how much you act up for the best support.  Neptune’s return to forward motion at the tail end of your sign helps you start returning to clarity.  As soon as next week you’ll be on the up and up.

PISCES

It’s a banner week for Pisces.  The New Moon in a fellow Water sign brings a chance for fresh starts, and your Neptune ruler’s return to forward motion has you ready to put one foot in front of the other.  Add Mercury’s generous support to planets in your sign and you’re in for a week of cocktails and conversation.

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

GENERAL FORECAST

Everybody’s pining.  The Sun and Mercury both meet up with Venus Retrograde this week.  This could have us running into/ hearing from old friends and lovers, or at the very least, thinking a lot about them.  As for Mars, he’s moving on – leaving the deep waters of Scorpio for the bold fire of Sagittarius.  We haven’t had any fire in our Astrological weather since the summer,  so we’re all a bit starved for that kind of creative energy.  Speaking of Fire, the Moon will be in Leo over Halloween weekend, sending out the flashy vibes.  It’s a good year for putting some extra effort in your costume:  everybody will be trying their damndest to be the star of the show.  Next week: a New Moon in Scorpio and Neptune’s return to forward motion.

**If you know your Rising Sign, be sure to read for that too!

ARIES

Best Weekend Ever. You feel more like yourself than you have in a while.  Your Mars ruler moving into a fellow fire sign has you amped up and ready to go.  Toward the end of the week, the energy supports you in every way.  Get ready to celebrate Halloween as much as you can and make a million memories!

TAURUS

You’re missing something you used to have. It could be a person, a resource, or both.  The important thing is to realize how well you’ve learned to adjust to that absence, and how much you’ve learned in the meantime.  It’s more about what you’ve got now. Mars moves out of Scorpio mid-week, and things get way more peaceful.

GEMINI

Use your words.  Angry situations at work or home could grow into mountains over the next few weeks if you’re not careful.  Now is the time to stop the drama in its tracks.  Your Mercury ruler hooking up with Venus Retrograde could bring an old flame out of the woodwork.

CANCER

Make a big dinner for someone you love.  The days are still golden, but now’s your chance to nest a while.  The Moon in your sign for much of the workweek brings the kind of comfortable homey vibes you work best with. Next week: the New Moon in a fellow water sign brings things full-circle.

LEO

A change in the game.  Mars moves into a fellow Fire sign and brings you an unexpected surge of energy.  Don’t waste it pining away for yesterday’s uncatchable crush.  The Moon in Leo for most of Halloween weekend puts you right back into the spotlight.  Live it up!

VIRGO

Take your chances. There are small opportunities all over the place but it’s up to you to see them for what they are and get them while you can.  Your Mercury ruler’s merge with Venus Retrograde could have you longing for the good old days.  Keep your eyes on the road ahead.

LIBRA

It’s all about using your creativity to support your growth instead of getting lost in your imagination. Balancing equal parts discipline and vision is the key to surviving the changes you’re currently being faced with.  Your Venus ruler is up to all sorts of business this week, bringing back old issues you thought had long ago been put to bed.

SCORPIO

Everything hits at once.  You’ll have a hard time finding any spare moments for yourself this week but it’s only because there are too many opportunities you just can’t pass up on.  Recognize the gifts you’re getting for what they are and start setting intentions for this next year of your life.  Next week: the New Moon in Scorpio.

SAGITTARIUS

Mars moves into your sign midweek, the first in a parade of planets that will be bringing plenty of action to your world for the rest of 2010.  It’s all about getting prepared, and Mars gives you the energy to do just that.  Small deals could seem bigger than they have to be.  Concentrate on your to-do list.

CAPRICORN

It’s getting better already. This week, you’re thinking more about being fair than about getting ahead, and it’s doing wonders for your transformation. This is the beginning of a process that will change the way you live and love for the rest of your days.  Look close:  there’s pleasure to be found in all sorts of unpredictable places.

AQUARIUS

You’ll get by with a little help from your friends.  The Full Moon fallout is still affecting your mood, but things can’t improve until you change the way you’re seeing them.  Use some days this week to enjoy some old friend’s company and see what changes.  Next week: it’s all about the up and up.

PISCES

Welcome back!  Better days than you’ve had in a while are helping you get back to business.  You have support in every corner of your world right now and it’s time to start making things happen. Don’t get too comfortable:  use the good vibes to ground yourself for any challenges you might meet while Mars moves through Sagittarius.

Horoscopes for October 18-24, 2010

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

GENERAL FORECAST

It’s fast and furious compared to last week’s long, lazy days.  We might have a hard time catching up at the start: Monday and Tuesday are all about escape and daydreams.  Things pick up by Wednesday when Mercury moves from Libra into the deep waters of Scorpio and Mars lends his energy to Jupiter, the planet that’s all about expansion.  If you’ve been waiting to make a play or a gamble, Wednesday is the best day to try your luck.  Friday’s Full Moon in Aries brings a fiery start to the rest of the weekend:  we could be in for something big and unexpected after the Sun follows Mercury into Scorpio early Saturday morning.  Next week:  back to the love stuff.

**If you know your Rising Sign, be sure to read for that too!

ARIES

You’re the center of attention.  Whether it’s good or bad publicity depends on how you’ve been playing your cards.  Things will slow down and get back to normal after Friday evening’s Full Moon in your sign.  In the meantime:  face the music.  Midweek’s dance between your Mars ruler and lucky Jupiter could mean an unexpected and very welcome surprise.

TAURUS

Keep your cool.  A parade of people projecting their own issues onto you could be irritating your normally patient demeanor. The Sun and Mercury’s move into your opposite sign will convince you to confront the problem on your own terms before week’s end. Be extra wary of anybody trying to sell you an easy way out.

GEMINI

You might be flying a little too close to the Sun this week:  you’re overstuffed with big ideas and you want every single one of them to happen Right Now!  You’ll be surprised at just how much your nerves calm down when you choose just one thing to focus on.  Next week: a blast from your romantic past.

CANCER

Good times and high highs.  The action won’t slow down until after Friday’s Full Moon.  The good news is, it’s working in your favor in unexpected ways all over the place.  Use the energy while you have it and you’ll be able to get all caught up or even ahead.  Next week, it’s all about the respite.

LEO

The days have been dragging and you’re starting to get behind on everything from your studies to your social life. It’s not easy to find, but the discipline’s there.  Use the week to cross as much as you can off your to-do list before Friday’s Full Moon in Aries.  More fire energy in the sky means more support for you as soon as next week.

VIRGO

This is the week you find your words again.  Or, more accurately, the right words.  This will be of huge benefit to others as well as yourself. You might be asked to play a key part in somebody’s big transition when your Mercury ruler moves into Scorpio.  Remember, you have something to contribute. It’s all about shared resources for the rest of the month.

LIBRA

Libra loves to be social but right now you’re feeling more like crowded.  You’re constantly expected to be three places at once, and using daydreams to escape the grind.  Find another way to multi-task.  Any details you skip this week are likely to come back to haunt you at a later date.  Everything slows down after Friday’s Full Moon in your opposite sign.

SCORPIO

Happy Birthday!  The Sun chases Mercury into your sign by the end of the week, joining Venus and Mars for the biggest celebration you’ve had in ages.  You’ll dig the benefits, even if you’re not sure how you feel about all the attention.  Lots of Mars activity in the sky gives you copious amounts of energy all week long:  make sure and keep it constructive.

SAGITTARIUS

You’ve been wondering what happened to all of your energy and this is the week you’ll find your reserves. Thankfully, you won’t be feeling as languid as you have been lately for the rest of the year.  Friday’s Full Moon in a fellow fire sign could have you dealing with something intense and unexpected.  You’ll be on your feet and ready for whatever you have to handle.

CAPRICORN

Blame it on the Full Moon.  You’re trying to get things done but the people you’re working with can’t seem to take anything seriously.  Thankfully the Sun’s move into Scorpio enables you to push your temper down a bit, ore even bury it.  Don’t worry:  as much as they’re good for distraction, you’ll be the one getting all the credit at the project’s end.

AQUARIUS

At least you won’t be bored.  The Full Moon in Aries amps up the action while more planets moving into Scorpio means confronting some sticky situations.  The rest of the year brings the tail end of Neptune’s sojourn through your sign.  Hopefully you’ve learned something about attachment and what you need vs. what you absolutely don’t.

PISCES

You’re super sensitive to the pressure everybody else is under.  This is always true for Pisces but this week, it could start making you angry.  Learn to be creative with that energy and you’ll start to learn how to temper your penchant for escapism.  Someone needs your active help and you’ll be amazed at what pitching in does for your own constitution.

Horoscopes for October 11-17,2010

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

GENERAL FORECAST

After an intense weekend of Venus changing direction in super seductive Scorpio, we’re in for a mild few days before next week’s Full Moon in Aries. Mild,  meaning there’s not much more to deal with than the fallout.  Have you already had some revelations?  Use the quiet workweek for a respite.  We could all use a second to process the way our plots are getting thicker.  Things get super social this weekend when chatty Mercury hooks up with the light of the Sun in Libra.  Next week:  a fiery Full Moon!

**If you know your Rising Sign, be sure to read for that too!

ARIES

Spill the secrets.  Something you’ve been hiding is about to be revealed. If you can do this on your own terms, it’s better for everyone involved.  Last week’s New Moon brought you into a new era of taking responsibility, especially in your relationships.

You’re about to see how doing the right thing can sometimes get you exactly what you’re looking for.

TAURUS

Relationship issues are popping up around every single corner you turn, other people’s unexpected generosity giving you all sorts of strange ideas. It’s not so much about what you’re being given as it is about what you’re looking for.  The plot will thicken next week when even more characters enter the picture. Don’t panic.  This isn’t a problem that needs to be solved before the end of the year.

GEMINI

Everybody’s telling stories.  That’s typically just what Gemini thrives on, but there’s something a little suspicious about what you’re hearing this week.  Take the time to listen more than you talk and you’re bound to uncover some important information.  The weekend brings social obligations and chance meetings all over the place, the perfect weather for finding exactly the answers you’re looking for.

CANCER

New information that turns up this week could have you questioning everybody’s motives, including your own.  You’re seeing big, unexpected changes in the days leading up to next weekend’s Full Moon. Turn to your support system to help remind you where you’re coming from and remember, the good guys still have your back.  Think good thoughts, surprises could turn serendipitous.

LEO

It’s time to start talking.  A certain relationship is pushing you to unintended heights, and possibly the destructive kind.  Make sure of your facts before imposing any ultimatums.  You haven’t been seeing the situation clearly but this is the week you’re able to do so as more avenues of communication open up to you.  Using your words will help you talk things through in creative ways that surprise everybody involved.

VIRGO

Use what you know.  An exciting new situation or person in your life is showing you, very clearly, what you’ve learned from past relationships.  Seeing what you’ve already mastered is what will help you take the next forward steps. You may be asked to be more vulnerable than you’re used to being this week.  Trust that the discomfort is sure to bring some totally worth it new developments in the story.

LIBRA

You’re being challenged to become as strong as possible while at the same time feeling the unavoidable urge to escape.  It’s possible to find a balance between the two, but you are going to have to look for it.  This next year for you is all about finding a way to master your emotions.  Get some good work done in that area and the fun stuff will be overflowing sooner than you think.

SCORPIO

Poker face.  Scorpio energy has been a huge focus with Venus and Mars hooking up in your sign, deepening the passion (and secrecy) of relationships all over the world.  This week, Venus starts questioning her involvement with your darker issues.  You could be retracing your own steps in a certain relationship.  Keep your cool the way only Scorpio can and wait to see what develops next week, when more folks show up for the party.

SAGITTARIUS

You gotta have faith.  Sagittarius has always been good at adjusting to unexpected circumstances, but this past summer made you a die-hard pro.  You’re about to be rewarded for holding onto your patience.  There won’t be any dramatic revelations this week, but you’ll be finding a certain self-assurance that what you’ve been doing is leading to the exact right road, and that makes you even more excited about doing the work that gets you there.

CAPRICORN

The past months have been challenging you to balance your typical cautious cynicism with a bit of Mary Poppins bright side. This is the week your progress will be put to the test.   Remember, your expectations can have a profound effect on the outcome of any situation or relationship.  The Moon in your sign for much of the workweek gives you the chance to see not only what thinking differently can do for your progress, but for your emotions as well.

 AQUARIUS

This week, you’re able to find a whole new perspective.  New information is coming to light that will help you clarify that thing you’ve been wondering about.  Not that you’re past the challenge, but you do have new, better tools for dealing with it.  The key is in keeping the stories separated. The less any drama from one area of your life is interfering with what’s happening in another, the more you’ll stay on track.

PISCES

Maybe you’re in hermit mode, maybe you’re just nesting.  Either way, right now you’re content to wile away the days from your own little world.  Taking some time to yourself will help you wind down from any heavy conversations you’ve been having and get your emotions in check.   Next week puts you back among the busy streets, now’s the perfect time to stockpile your energy.

And now for Venus Retrograde…

A lot of people are familiar with the term “Mercury Retrograde”, to the point that the two words said together can inspire anxiety, even dread.  The truth is, there’s nothing to fear about any retrograde period, whether it’s Mercury, or any other planet.  Planetary energy can be expressed in an infinite number of ways: positive or negative, outward or inward, forward or back.  Saying a planet is “retrograde” isn’t the same as saying that planet is evil, it’s not a Jekyll and Hyde kind of thing.

Think of Astrology like a weather report.  We look at the planets and the ways they are contacting each other to see what combinations of energy are going on in the sky at any particular moment in time.  Sometimes that star-weather is sunny, and sometimes it’s stormy – but that doesn’t mean it is ever “good” or “bad”, it depends on the individual and their particular preferences, or, in astrological terms, the way they react to certain types of astrological weather.  The weather report gives us fair warning to get the galoshes if it’s going to be raining, and Astrology can give us fair warning to be extra aware or responsible or whatever we need to be to thrive with the climates and situations that are coming our way.  And a retrograde is just another kind of weather.

So what exactly does “retrograde” mean?  It’s an optical illusion, basically.  Think about being on a highway, driving fast past a slower car, and as you pass them, they almost appear to be going backward.  The same kind of thing happens with the planets due their different orbits and speeds.  When a planet goes retrograde, it’s not really travelling backward through space, but it looks to be from our perspective here on earth.

Though we hear about Mercury more than most, all of the planets go retrograde from time to time.  Mercury does it the most, appearing to travel backwards three times a year for three weeks at a time.  The farther out bodies, from Jupiter through Pluto, spend 4-6 months of every year in retrograde motion.  Then there’s Mars and Venus, who appear to be backtracking much less from our perspective here on earth.  Mars turns retrograde every couple of years for about two months at a time, and Venus, who just flipped to reverse late last night, goes retrograde every year and a half for about six weeks at a time.

Different astrologers say different things about what happens when a planet goes retrograde.  Many say that the energy of that planet, instead of being naturally expressed and directed outward, begins to turn inward and come back toward us.  Many say that it’s a time to work with really investigating and restructuring the things associated with that planet so that we can better work with its energy.  And of course some say that things will go terribly off course.

Mercury, for instance, is the planet associated with thought, communication and travel.  Whenever Mercury goes retrograde, many caution against signing documents, taking jobs, buying or fixing equipment, leaving the house, talking to absolutely anyone, and so on.  But a lesser-known side of Mercury Retrograde is that it can bring things back from the past:  from stuff you’ve lost to ideas you’d forgotten to friends you haven’t heard from in years.  Mercury Retrograde is always a good time to reorganize and rethink things, from your stuff to your schedule, to try and make them work better for you.  And yes, Mercury stationing “Direct” (i.e. Returning to apparent forward motion) is probably better “weather” for starting up a brand new project or venture than the middle of a retrograde period, but remember, it’s only weather.  Heavy talks and trips you take and your general day to day schedule might have some unexpected twists and consequences during Mercury Retrograde, but unexpected never necessarily means “bad”.  (On a side note, Mercury will be turning retrograde for the last time this year from December 11 through 29, just in time for the holidays.)  (Stop panicking!)

As of this writing, four planets are currently Retrograde in the sky:  Neptune, Uranus, Jupiter and as of late last night, Venus.

Venus the planet is a lot like Venus the goddess.  Venus is the planet of love, grace, value, and attraction.  Because of this, it’s easy to paint Venus Retrograde into the worst possible scenario for romance and relationships: some will warn that any relationships that start during this period are certainly doomed, or that if your relationship is rocky, Venus Retrograde is sure to end it for once and for all.  But, just like with Mercury, there are plenty of other expressions this period could take:  it could be a time when old loves come back, or issues from past relationships resurface in your current world, only to be worked out for once and for all.  Venus Retrograde could have some people readjusting whom and what they’re attracted to, changing their perspectives and lifestyles in a good way, it could open some people up.

Remember, it’s the same energy, just going in another direction.  Remember, it’s all about perspective. Some people who are typically reluctant to be open or looking for the love stuff might have an unexpected change of heart when Venus changes direction, some couples might use the time to rediscover just how much they value the person they’re with, and readjust the way they care for them.  Every individual will process and work with this energy in their own individual way.

If you meet someone new in the next six weeks, and you like him, don’t go running the other way just because of a planet.  If you have a terrible, horrible, really bad fight with the one you love, don’t just assume that you’re doomed and she’s never coming back because Venus is retrograde.

But do prepare for the weather.  Be aware that the energy is moving in a different way in that part of your world right now, and notice the subtle (or not so subtle) shifts that things start to take between now and November 18, when Venus returns to forward motion.  Don’t expect that there will be bad things happening; just be aware of what is happening.  In the case of that someone new, think about what’s different about your attraction process during this time.  In the case of that couple falling in love all over again, think about what was getting in the way of their perception before this.

Venus Retrograde can also have an affect on our appearances and values, the way we look and the things we buy.  Again, many astrologers warn against buying new clothes or furniture or making any major changes in appearance while Venus is retrograde.  They say that these things will ultimately never be valued, you’ll buy a couch you can’t stand, or a rug that never stops shedding, or dye your hair a color that makes you disappear.  Again, be aware that the energy of Venus is going a different direction, make your decisions more mindfully, but if you have to have something, you have to have it, and a planet’s direction shouldn’t stop you.

***

If you’re familiar with your astrological chart you can take all of this a step further by seeing where early Scorpio and late Libra fall in your chart.  This is the territory that Venus will be retreading and the house(s) where that territory falls in your chart can give you a clue as to where you might be doing some readjusting.

Even if you’re not familiar with your chart, dates can help you to see how the energy of Venus Retrograde affects you in particular.

In the past five years, Venus has been retrograde during

~ March and April 2009

~ August and September 2007

~ January 2006

Do any of those time frames mean anything to you?  See if a similar theme turns up during the next six weeks.  Astrology is all about cycles and patterns, and at the very least, learning about Astrology can help us recognize our own cycles and patterns.

Venus is currently retrograde in Scorpio. The last time Venus went retrograde in Scorpio was during October and November of 2002.  Again, themes and issues from that time period could be resurfacing now, but not necessarily in a bad way.  Even if shadows come back to haunt you, its important to remember that this could be the time for them to finally be resolved and put to bed for once and for all.  The more you pay attention to the patterns in the planets, the more you begin to see the patterns in you, and that’s never a bad thing.

Have a great weekend y’all,

Adeline
