The MOON moves into LEO at 8:17 am (pacific standard time).
Leo is the fifth sign, so it’s associated with the 5th House.  Ruled by the Sun, the 5th House and Leo are all about creativity. They want to be remembered and they want to make their mark.   The 5th House is the game room, it’s where people let loose and dive into what they most enjoy.  It’s where people play, it’s all about sharing the good stuff.
When the Moon is in Leo, people follow their passions.

The MOON moves into LEO at 8:17 am (pacific standard time).

Heather Chandler is an Aries.

Heather Chandler is an Aries.

First off, there’s that whole red scrunchie thing, an apt symbol for Aries: it’s a hair accessory, it’s bright, bright red, (and Heather Chandler is always red). Heather Chandler is bold and aggressive and not afraid of what anybody else thinks.  As far as she’s concerned, nobody else exists, really.  And she’s mean.  Even to her friends, she’s mean.  (This is *of course* not to say that every Aries is mean, just that this is one of the potential expressions of the sign, it’s ruled by Mars after all, and Heather Chandler is a very exaggerated, very one-sided character.)

Heather Chandler always comes first.  Duh.

Heather Duke is a little harder.  I think she’s a Libra.  Aries and Libra are both cardinal signs, and cardinal signs like to be in charge.  Heather Duke did go straight for the role of #1 within minutes of Heather Chandler’s demise. Heather Duke takes a less confrontational approach to getting what she wants, just like a Libra would.  She’s duplicitous. Libra can sometimes have that Nelly Oleson/Eddie Haskell way of being overly, saccharine sweet so that it can keep a pretty surface while doing whatever it wants to do.  (Again ~ this is just one possible manifestation!  It certainly doesn’t apply to 100% of the Libras in this world by any stretch of the imagination.)

Heather McNamera is undoubtedly a water sign.  She’s the most emotional character in the entire movie.  She’s not hard enough or strong enough to be a Scorpio, and she doesn’t quite have the maternal nature of Cancer, the cardinal water sign.  So she must be a Pisces.  That would make perfect sense, especially if you consider her phone call to the DJ (the one where she says she’s Madonna, no, Tweety). “The last two boys i had sex with killed themselves the next day” she says, assuming good old-fashioned Pisces guilt. Her own attempt to kill herself is classic Piscean escapism too.

And then there’s Veronica. Veronica has a good dose of both Aquarius and Capricorn going on.  She dresses in Capricorn colors, and she has a very fast, dry, fantastically sarcastic sense of humor like Capricorn does.  She’s smart, and that could be Capricorn as well as Aquarius, but her sympathy for the underdog is a decidedly Aquarian trait. She’s also the one girl in the four-girl clique who doesn’t quite fit in, there’s something a little odd about her, also very Aquarius.  Her super magnetic attraction to a bad boy like Jason Dean is Aquarian rebellion.  Or she might just have planets in Sagittarius. Let’s call Veronica Sawyer an Aquarius with Capricorn Rising and a Sagittarius Moon.

And JD?  Scorpio.  Exposing everybody else’s secrets in his own destructive way.

What do you think?

PS:  In real life, Winona Ryder is the Scorpio, and Shannen Doherty is the Aries (no surprises there).  Christian Slater is a Leo, of course.  Kim Walker, the actress who played Heather Chandler, was a Gemini.  She died of a brain tumor in 2001.  Lisanne Falk, who played Heather McNamera, has no listed date of birth.

Repost: The Four Elements

Always begin with the elements.

Each of the 12 signs in the zodiac falls under Fire, Earth, Air or Water.  There are three of each.

The fire signs are:  Aries, Leo and Sagittarius

The earth signs are: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn

The air signs are: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius

The water signs are: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces

The element describes the basic nature of a sign. Think of how an element acts in nature, and you get a pretty good idea of how that element acts in Astrology as well:

Fire signs are spirited and passionate.  Earth signs are grounded.  Air signs can sometimes be flighty, they’re conceptual.  Water signs are fluid, emotional.

Think also, of the different forms each element can take:  Fire can range from a small controlled flame to something completely unstoppable.  Earth can be solid, and it can turn to mud.  Air is everything from the calmest wind to the craziest tornados. Water can flow or freeze right into ice.  The infinite ways each element can express itself applies to that element in astrology as well.  There are infinite expressions but the element, the basic nature remains the same.

Signs of the same element get along well with each other, they’re coming from the same place.  (That’s why Scorpio is “compatible” with Pisces, and Aries with Sagittarius, and so on… ).  Signs of the same element trine each other.

Fire and Air get along great as well, as do Earth and Water.  Fire and Air signs sextile each other, as do Water and Earth.  It sounds dirty, I know.

What element dominates your chart?

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

By Adeline Leigh

GENERAL FORECAST:

Lights, camera, action…! ~  A trine between the planets Mars (action) and Jupiter (expansion) happens midweek.  A trine is an aspect that opens up the flow of energy between planets and enables it to move freely.  With Mars and Jupiter involved, people are going to be taking some giant steps.  The Moon in Leo at the same time assures those steps will be showy.  The other big move in the sky this week happens on Friday, with a square between the Scorpio Sun and Neptune in Aquarius.  That’s the same aspect that Venus and Mercury made from Scorpio a couple of weeks ago, only now Neptune is in forward motion and that much stronger.  Neptune weather can be confusing and deluding, it feels like a movie or a dream.  This is going to be a week fully packed with all sorts of déjà vu and drama.  And this is just the opening scene:  next week brings Mercury Retrograde, a Solar Eclipse during the New Moon in Sagittarius, Mars trine Pluto and heaps of Venus Action.  Who’s ready to keep moving?

***If you know your Rising Sign and Moon signs, be sure to read for those too!

***Here’s a link to last week’s horoscopes

***Here’s a link to find NMOMA on Facebook ~ daily birthdays + transits + more!

ARIES

Keep a lookout for the big luck.  The trine between your Mars ruler and mega-Jupiter this Wednesday is all about showing you exactly where you can make some good moves.  However, this is happening between Earth signs – and the energy is much less impulsive and more grounded (and ok, more practical) than your fiery Aries nature is accustomed to.  Practice your patience, make it a point to be careful, keep moving forward, and expect the very best results.  Next week’s New Moon Eclipse in a fellow Fire sign brings an unexpected, completely welcome fresh start.

TAURUS

You’ve got epic reserves of energy at your disposal right now, use the push to get stuff done. Taurus is famous for procrastinating, especially when it comes to the boring stuff that can easily be postponed.  But this week you’ll be able to take care of plenty of business, and even have fun doing it.  Think of it as the prelude to (and the preparation for!) the mini-drama that’s going to be distracting in you in plenty of ways over Thanksgiving.  You’re about to have some memorable times, now’s where you make the space for them.

GEMINI

Don’t feel guilty about slowing down or stepping back.  Your Mercury ruler is putting on the brakes in preparation to station retrograde a week from this Wednesday.  Think of it like you’re getting ready for a big adventure.  There are bags to be packed, lists to be checked, and all sorts of details to remember… in anticipation of a very exciting time.   You should know you’re about to embark on a brand new journey.  Rest up, and be ready.  Sooner than you realize there won’t be any time to remind you about responsibilities.

CANCER

The beginning of the week is incredibly productive and lucky.  Chances are you’re already getting things done, but don’t be afraid to push for even more.  You’ll be all about slowing down to relax by Sunday.  In the meantime, try to be as many places as you can be.  Time can open up for you this week:  you have the ability to make space for way more appointments and activities and errands than you’re used to.  The trick is staying enthusiastic and the good news is, the sky is totally setting you up for that.

LEO

Your head’s in the clouds all week as your Sun approaches a square to nebulous Neptune, freshly forward in Aquarius, your opposite sign.  This can work for, or against you, depending on how you use it.  It’s energy that can stretch from putting others way too high on pedestals (read: believing in your own epic expectations)- to finding gigantic places to take the tiniest of ideas.  Use this weather to create tangible expressions of the things you’re going through.  You’ve got an amazing story going on right now, it’s time to create some keepsakes.

VIRGO

It’s like you’re hitting the gas and the brakes at the same time.  Your Mercury ruler is slowing down and backing off and ready to spend some down time in Sagittarius, but Mars the Warrior is freshly in your sign for an extended stay and all about keeping you on your feet.  Try to divide your focus between taking concrete, productive steps forward, and really stopping to think about what your best next moves should be.  You’ve got enormous amounts of support right now.  Know that for yourself and you’ll feel that much better about taking your time.

LIBRA

Stop to look around for a second, and you might notice that you’re completely content.  Slow down and keep it simple for a while.  Not that simple means boring.  Just that now’s a good time to fully appreciate what’s going on around you without trying so hard to get ahead in the process.  There’s plenty of time for that starting next week when your Venus ruler moves into Capricorn, the sign that’s all about ambition.  Use the pleasant weather you’ve got going for you right now to just let things be.  It’s all about the respite.

SCORPIO

Everything’s going on.  These are the last days of the Sun in your sign and you’re seeing way more possibilities than you did a month ago.  Get ready to start making them happen, but remember to stay grounded in the process.  Your Scorpio Sun’s challenge to nebulous Neptune over the weekend could have you getting lost in any number of escapist tendencies.  Have as much fun as possible, just remember to keep your eyes and your focus on what’s coming up.  You’ll have epic amounts of energy next week pushing you to really start moving.

SAGITTARIUS

You’re anxious to get moving and very possibly frustrated.  If the week starts out on a slow note, just remember you’re still in the preparation phase. Use the push you’re feeling to take care of mundane details. As for the downtime, picture where you’re trying to go as much as you possibly can.  If you’re not sure where exactly that is, just picture how you want to be feeling.  Then do something tangible that creates some space for those feelings to happen.  Things will start to manifest as soon as next week’s New Moon Eclipse in your sign.

CAPRICORN

If you know you’re in for some starts and stops, they’re likely to be less frustrating. Mars, freshly moving through a fellow Earth sign, is helping you pick up where you left off in the most productive of ways.  Just remember there are plenty of detours in your future, and don’t make your timeline too permanent just yet.  The next few weeks are all about waves of productivity versus episodes of epic distraction.  Be prepared for that, and make the most of the times when you can keep moving in all the right ways.

AQUARIUS

The Scorpio Sun gives one last challenge to Neptune in your sign at the end of the week.  Watch out for ghosts and patterns from the past and whatever’s buried in your backyard to start coming back to haunt you.  The trick in dealing with them is remembering that it’s all about forcing you to prove how you’re finally able to do things differently.  You’ve become a much different person than you would have imagined before Neptune entered your sign in 1998.  Now’s the time to push that new side of yourself even farther ahead.

PISCES

Keep in mind: things won’t be slowing down any time soon.  The more you remember that, the more you’ll realize how imperative it is to focus on the things that are going right.   For the first time in a long time you’re completely ready to start letting yourself be comfortable.  Instead of obsessing about what’s challenging you to conform in counterintuitive ways, you’re choosing to continue working with the things and the people who enable you to be completely yourself.  You’ll be seeing gigantic benefits to the challenges you’re currently dealing with by the end of this year.

The MOON moves into CANCER at 11:19 pm (pacific standard time).
Cancer is the fourth sign, so it’s associated with the 4th House.  The 4th House is home. It’s where you come from, your families and ancestors.  The 4th House is the kitchen, it’s comfort food.  Cancer (and therefore the 4th House) is ruled by the Moon, it’s where you keep the things you need.
When the Moon’s in Cancer, the mood gets more homebody.

The Moon spends about two and a half days in each sign.  The Moon will be in Cancer until Wednesday morning when it moves into Leo, the 5th sign.

Don’t Memorize - Mix It Up

Here’s a thing about learning Astrology.

It’s not nearly as simple (or as horrifyingly tedious) as memorizing a whole litany of facts that describe the people born under each sign.

In fact, any time you read a blanket statement describing what ALL Scorpios do or EVERY SINGLE Gemini desires - it’s important to remember a couple of things:

First - the description of any sign should describe the sign itself, not the traits of every single person born (when the Sun was) in that sign.

Every one of us has all twelve signs in our make up.  When you’re reading about the traits of Scorpio, you’re not reading specifically about every single Scorpio you know - you’re reading about the energy of Scorpio - and that energy is somewhere in your makeup (and every single person you know) as well.

Second - the energies of each sign (and planet) have infinite manifestations from epic positive to breakdown bad and all sorts of places in between.  The manifestations depend on how we use the energy.  It’s the free will part.

~

Astrology is based on three things:  Planets, Signs, and Houses.

10 Major planets.  12 Signs.  and 12 Houses.

Each of the Signs corresponds to one of the Houses.

Each of the Planets rules one of the Signs (and therefore the House) that that sign corresponds with.  Mercury and Venus rule two signs each. Mercury = Gemini and Virgo.  Venus = Taurus and Libra.

Mix it up.

When you start to get more familiar with a sign - let’s say Cancer (because you’re totally crushed out on a Cancer, or all of a sudden everyone you meet is a Cancer, or you find out Cancer is your Rising Sign, or whatever) - you’re also starting to get more familiar with the Planet and House associated with that sign.  So take everything you’ve learned about Cancer and see how those concepts apply to the 4th House (the House that Cancer is associated with), and the Planet that rules the sign of Cancer - the Moon.

The Moon/Cancer/the 4th House all have the same kind of vibe:  comfort, needs, protection, home, where you come from.  Once you know a bit about Cancer, you know a bit about the Moon, and you know a bit about the 4th House too.

The Planet is the Archetype, the actor.

The Sign is the Color, the genre.

The House is the Location, the setting.

::

The Archetype = the MOON/the Mother Figure: comfort, need, protection

The Genre = CANCER:  Family, Home, Ancestry, Food

The Setting = 4th House:  Home, where you come from, where you’re comfortable.

~

They all have a similar vibe, see?

You can do this with any sign or planet or house.

Jupiter/Sagittarius/9th House:

Archetype = Jupiter: Expansion/Santa Claus/Inflation/Exacerbation

Genre = Sagittarius:  Adventure / Long Distances / Philosophy / Experience

Setting = 9th House: Higher Education / Foreign Travel / Beliefs

-

Mars/Aries/1st House

Archetype = Mars: the Warrior/ Energy / Action / Pioneer

Genre = Aries: Action / War / Competition / #1

Setting = 1st House: Self (stepping out, proving your self), Personality, Perspective

Mix it up.

Take a person with the Moon in the 1st House in Sagittarius.

That could spell passionate (Fire = 1st House + Sagittarius) emotions (Moon).  Or an emotionally (Moon) blunt (Sagittarius) personality (1st House).

Let’s do it another way.

Mars in the 4th House in Sagittarius.

This could manifest as an active (or angry - Mars) family (4th House) that’s restless/always on the move (Sagittarius).  It could also manifest as the desire and drive (Mars) to move (4th House/Home) to another country (Sagittarius).  Or both.  Or all sorts of things in between.

~

You don’t have to learn it all at once. You get familiar with the things that resonate with you, and then you start to make connections.

It’s a lot like learning music.

Mix it up.

The MOON moves into GEMINI at 12:10 pm (pacific daylight time).
Gemini is the third sign, so it’s associated with the 3rd House - and both are ruled by the planet Mercury.  The 3rd House is the house of communication.  It’s like the den - the family room, the place where you keep the TV.  Newscasters and talking heads are totally 3rd House material.  So are phones and laptops and istuffs and chargers.
The 3rd House is your most familiar environment.  It’s associated with siblings and basic education and local transport and your neighborhood. All the chatter you’re so used to being surrounded by.

Mars in Virgo

10 November 2011

MARS moves into VIRGO at 8:15 pm (pacific daylight time).

Mars represents our energy: drive and gumption - and also desire.  Mars is the warrior.  It can be aggressive, and angry, and argumentative.  Mars is competition and fire and speed and knives and absolutely anything violent.

Mars is the slowest of the personal planets, and typically spends about two months travelling through each sign.  But due to a retrograde coming up this January, Mars will be in the sign of Virgo for eight months - not moving on until the Summer of 2012.

Mars only goes retrograde once every two years, and it’s always pretty noticeable.

Mars brings energy to whatever sign it’s travelling through. It’s been in Leo since mid-September, and that’s been bringing out the bravado.  In Virgo, Mars is going to bring out the perfectionist in people.  Mars in Virgo is going to be very concerned about systems and methods.  It’s hyper-detail-oriented and all about getting it right the first time.  It’s going to tend toward crankiness.

Remember, it’s just the weather.  There are totally ways you can use it to your advantage.

Virgo is the sign of Service and Health (as well as your job - not necessarily your career or your passion, but what you do to pay the rent).  Wherever Mars is travelling at any given time will be the most productive place you can put your energy.  Mars in Virgo for 8 whole months is pure magic for people starting any kind of new health regimes or exercise ritual.  It’s also crazy good for anybody who’s deciding they need to buckle down and just work their ass off for awhile:  do that over the next few months and you’ll likely surprise yourself with how far you can go.

If you know your chart, check the House where Virgo falls to see where this Mars Retrograde will be affecting you.

Here’s the good news:

Mars in Virgo starts off on a super nice note.  Powerful Pluto and hella-lucky Jupiter are both in the earliest degrees of the other two Earth signs (Capricorn and Taurus, respectively).  Mars in the earliest degrees of Virgo will be opening up that energy and and driving us to find that power and that luck.  Those aspects will be exact over the next couple of weeks - right now’s the time to think about how we should be using them.

Perfect from Now On,

Adeline

Happy Full Moon ~

10 November 2011

The Moon will be Full in Taurus at 12:16 pm (pacific standard time).

Much like the New Moon in Scorpio two weeks ago, this Full Moon has auspicious undertones ~ there’s fertile ground for any seed you want to plant- as long as you’re willing to work on the upkeep.

Last Spring’s New Moon in Taurus happened at the tail-end of the Aries Action, when new developments were springing up for all of us.  Now that we’ve acclimated to the changes that surfaced back then, it’s time to start working on what we want to accomplish in this next chapter.

Think about what’s changed for you since last Spring under today’s Full Moon.  Where do you want to take things next?

Neptune Direct

9 November 2011

The planet NEPTUNE will station direct at 10:55 am (pacific standard time).

“Stationing Direct” is Astrologese for the moment a planet makes the about face from reverse to forward motion.  We’re talking about Neptune here, so let’s keep it specific. That motion is “apparent” to us here on Earth.  The planets never actually travel backwards, but because of their speeds, and our speed, they appear to do so from time to time.  Think about being on a train, and seeing another train right next to you going so much slower it appears to be going backwards.  Same kind of thing.  When the planets do this, we say they’re Retrograde.

Neptune went Retrograde from the very first degree of Pisces in early June, and was back in Aquarius by August.  After turning direct this morning, Neptune will be rushing back into its hometown sign of Pisces and arriving on February 3rd, 2012.

The outer planets move so slowly, they tend to represent generations.  Whenever the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) change signs, it brings a certain shift in the general weather, a new era, or generation.

With so many planets freshly in new signs right now, we’re going through some super interesting times. Pluto moved into Capricorn in 2008 and brought us our current era of crazy economy upheaval corporate wtf bullshit.  The planet Uranus moved into Aries just last year - you’ll remember the Japanese earthquake/tsunami/nuclear disaster stuff.  Neptune is the last of the three, taking its time to morph back into Pisces, the sign it rules, where it hasn’t been since 1848.

Neptune is dreamy stuff.  Impressionism.  Neptune has everything to do with dreams and imagination, and deception and addiction.  It can feel so beautiful you want to drown in it, but the results can be devastating.  It’s as big as the ocean - but it can also be used in the very best ways.  Neptune is creative inspiration, sparkly stuff, other worlds that everybody wants to get lost in.

Neptune rules fantasy and fashion and the movies and poetry.  Neptune in Pisces is about to bring all of these things into prominence in the softest, most beautiful ways.

But still, let’s keep our wits.
