The Full Moon in Aries, the sign of self is directly opposite the Sun and Saturn in Libra, the sign of partnerships. 

That means it’s shining the spotlight on what you need for yourself versus what you need to (and must) do to maintain your most important relationships.

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

The Full Moon in Aries happens Tuesday evening (7:06 pm pdt), and this one’s packing a punch.  A Full Moon is always an opposition between the Sun and the Moon, but this month, the Sun is conjunct Saturn as well, so the planet that’s all about setting foundations gets added to the mix.   Saturn brings permanence – watch for situations that have been uncertain at best to finally get some resolution.  At the same time, Venus will be the first of the personal planets this month to oppose Jupiter (currently in the early degrees of Taurus) from sultry Scorpio.  Jupiter is all about expansion, but also exaggeration.  Watch for taking your ideas or your emotions way too far.  Mercury joins Venus in Scorpio early Thursday morning.  There will be some heavy conversations to be had toward the end of the week but the deeper communication will bring way stronger bonds – especially with Saturn in the picture.  Stay connected to what’s going on in your story and you’ll start to see some gigantic possibilities.

ARIES 

The more you run from what you ought to be doing, the harder the obligation will hit when it finally catches up.  You know exactly where you need to be headed, but chances are big that you’re hiding it from yourself, if only out of the fear of responsibility.  The Full Moon in your sign tomorrow night is giving you the green light to step up to the plate will full confidence.  You can absolutely handle what’s coming next and even better, you’ll be feeling more empowered than weighed down. Pay attention to your dreams. 

TAURUS  

Read for last week.  If you’re feeling frustrated, find your trademark patience.  You’ve got plenty of opportunity to make your circumstances stronger right now (especially in relationships), but that requires keeping the faith.  Any challenges you’re facing are simply proving how much stronger and clearer your intentions have become.  Keep the lines of communication open and make the effort to share what you’re just now starting to understand with those who matter most.  It will take work, but the payoff will be well worth it.    Thursday and Friday are the best days to start talking. 

GEMINI 

Keep your commitments and mind your calendar.  If you’re getting too lost in the reverie stuff, Thursday might bring a very rude wake-up call.  This week you’ll see how your action (or lack of it) can affect all the people around you.  The good news is, you’re also starting to see how simple it is to make compromises that help you get more space and freedom than you’ve ever had before.  Keep on working at it.  The weekend is perfect for conversations where you prove to the most important people how very far you’ve come. 

CANCER 

You’ve got some adjustments to make.  How you make them is up to you, and has everything to do with what you know works for sure versus what you think other people might be expecting.  Tuesday’s Full Moon in Aries is the perfect opportunity to realize where and how it’s time to start thinking for yourself, and even better, start acting on it.  This is obviously not as simple as it sounds, but it is as easy as trusting your intuition.  You totally get it, all you have to do is see that for yourself. 

LEO 

Random acts of kindness never have to be complicated, and this is the perfect week to pass them out wherever and however you can.  This next year has everything to do with involving yourself with people and becoming an integral part of a community.  The more you begin to do that, the more you’ll find a very pleasant place to shine.  You’ve learned a thing or two lately about how letting others in can get you farther ahead in your own goals.  The more you can remember that, the easier it will be to do.   

VIRGO 

Access your social side.  Not just the part of you that’s so good at listening, but also the part that’s great at saying something worthwhile back.  This is the time to make some very important connections.  Putting what you’re feeling out there right now will bring some understandings you haven’t been able to find on your own.  Even if you still feel more like keeping to yourself this week, push yourself to share some time with someone else and you’ll likely make some worthwhile discoveries by Sunday.  It’s all about getting things to start growing. 

LIBRA 

Back to business.  The only way through your current situation is some good old-fashioned gumption.  The thing is, once you get started it will go much faster than you’re anticipating.  Tomorrow night’s Full Moon in your opposite sign is shining the spotlight on how ready you are to prove it.  Trust yourself – you’ve got more to give than you think you do.  The faster you jump in and get started, the sooner you’ll regain any lost confidence.  It always helps to think of it more as a challenge than a chore.  Whistle while you work. 

SCORPIO 

It’s all about learning where you need to let some stubborn go.  You’ve got plenty of opportunities this week to use your words and your grace in a way that lets the most important people see how much you’re really ready to work with them.  Start talking now and you’ll have the art of communication mastered more than ever before by the end of the year.  You’re about to see how letting go of a certain mindset can free you from your own anxieties as well as anybody else’s expectations.  Watch out for some serendipity.

SAGITTARIUS  

Venus opposes your Jupiter ruler all week, giving the next few days the theme of “Me vs. Us”.  Sagittarius loves its freedom more than any other sign, but certain circumstances are showing you how commitments can sometimes give you even more breathing room.  It can be easier to take bigger leaps when you’ve got a safe place to come home to.  Think about the people in your life that not only enable you to be completely yourself, but also inspire you to go farther.  Right now, you’re able to find more of them.  Take advantage. 

CAPRICORN 

You’ve already begun to figure out what you absolutely can’t change, now’s the time to start accepting it.  The alternative involves feeling completely inadequate, and that’s the last thing a Capricorn is willing to accept.  It’s all about your expectations – and that means of yourself as well as others.  Lucky for you, expectations are the easiest thing to adjust.  Find the balance between what you need from those closest to you and what you need to give back to your most mundane situations and you’ll have the first big clue about where to go next. 

AQUARIUS 

Stay focused on what you’re trying to build for yourself, but feel free to take some time off and appreciate how much you’ve acclimated so far.  You’re in the midst of a fairly major adjustment to your circumstances.  As long as you can remember how far you’ve already come, you’ll be able to weather any tendencies toward escapism.  Whether you realize it or not, what you’re doing for yourself and your cause is setting a pretty decent example for the rest of us.  The more you can see that, the farther you’re about to go. 

PISCES 

Your Neptune ruler gets a call from Mercury and all of a sudden there’s people to talk to everywhere you turn.  Everyone you encounter right now is showing you something about how you’ve learned to keep your own stuff separate from the vibes everybody else puts out.  Don’t worry so much about what you might be revealing, other folks aren’t paying that much attention.  This week, it’s a lot more about showing you what’s yours and what belongs to other people.  The more you can remember that, the more compassion you’ll be able to feel. 

Follow the Moon

Astrology is all about cycles.  The Moon is the fastest cycle of them all, completing a tour of all 12 signs in the zodiac once every month. That makes it a great place to start learning more about Astrology.  

Once you start to follow the Moon you start to understand how things shift for you personally as the Moon changes signs from day to day.  The Moon rules over our emotions, and learning to work with the cycles of the Moon can be invaluable in helping us to predict how we might be feeling at certain times (based on the sign the Moon is in and how it’s affecting our chart).  It’s a tool that can help us learn to weather the archetypical challenges that happen to us month after month and grow stronger and better at handling them. 

The Moon will be moving into Aries early Monday morning.  Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac. If you know where (what house) Aries falls in your chart, look to see how that area of your life might be affected over the next few days.  Do you have any planets in Aries? Those will also be affected by the Moon in the sign.  As will planets in Libra, Cancer or Capricorn, and Sagittarius and Leo as well.

Even if you don’t know your chart, watch to see how things shift between tonight (with the Moon in Pisces, a Water sign) and Monday morning, when the Moon moves into Aries (a Fire sign).  The mood tends to change for all of us when the Moon changes signs.

Venus in Scorpio

Venus moves into SCORPIO tonight at 10:50 pm (pacific daylight time), after a short three week stint in Libra, one of the signs she rules. 

Venus in Libra is charming and polite and quite concerned with appearances.  Venus in Scorpio is way more about things beneath the surface. Venus in Scorpio doesn’t care nearly so much about manners.  Venus in Scorpio is all sorts of sultry.

Venus will be in Scorpio until November 2. Keep it sexy.

Horoscopes for October 3-9, 2011

NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY

Things are getting quieter, but not necessarily slowing down.  Mercury’s hookup with Saturn midweek puts a limit on how much we’re talking – but that won’t make anybody’s situation any less intense.  Thursday and Friday are great days for reverie and romance, as long as you remember that the dreaminess can’t last forever.  Lots of people have their heads all up in the clouds this week, with Venus enabling Neptune on her way out of Libra.  Once she gets to Scorpio late Saturday night, we’ll all be looking past the superficial.  Last time Venus was in Scorpio she went retrograde and stayed there for almost six weeks.  This was back in late October and early November of 2010.  Look back to what was going on for you (especially with love and money stuff) back in those days and see if any echoes are starting to pop up.  Next week:  the Full Moon in Aries.

ARIES 

What did you learn about relationships in September?  Venus leaves Libra, your opposite sign, on Saturday.  Watch out for groping for one last chance with someone who’s way more like a fantasy.  That’s not to say you shouldn’t be aiming high, just remember that this time around it’s way more about you.  This is a week where you can find plenty of space to step back and think about where you want to be in your upcoming chapter.  Next week’s Full Moon in your sign is the perfect time to absolutely go for it. 

TAURUS  

Pay attention to your dreams this week, but don’t get too lost in them.  You’re entering a season that’s a lot about coming to terms with your love life.  New revelations about what you really want and your method for getting it are coming out of the woodwork all over the place.  Think especially about how certain close relationships have changed for you since last year at this time.  You’re about to realize how adjusting your behavior in some very simple ways can get you a lot more of what you’re looking for. 

GEMINI 

You’ve been working to get unstuck.  This week, the only thing trapping you is your own perspective.  Mercury’s hookup with stern Saturn could have you feeling pessimistic, but as always, the antidote to Saturn is as simple as taking some responsibility.  Doing the right thing might not offer immediate gratification in the material sense, but it will bring enormous improvements to your attitude.  The more you own up, the farther ahead you’ll feel, and that will be bringing the good vibes back.  Next week:  mega-inspiration and the end to any writer’s block. 

CANCER 

Wait til midweek to really get moving. You’re either busy recruiting people to be on your team, or you’re just plain being cranky.  There’s also the possibility of trying to do both at once.  Remember, right now is way more about moderation and balance than trying to do it all. You get your groove back by Wednesday and once again be leading everybody in the right direction.  Venus moves into a fellow Water sign Saturday night, enabling you to push your pretty side.  Things in the romance department are about to start looking way, way up. 

LEO 

Get yourself together.  It’s good organization weather - everything from closets to cupboards to files to facts.  You’ve got some busy days ahead, so it’s good to be creating some new space and systems.  Step back and get ready for the next chapter - the more prepared you are, the more you’ll be able to accomplish. Use the weekend to show off any progress you’ve made.  Consider it the dress rehearsal for next week’s Full Moon in Aries, a fellow fire sign.  By then you’ll be happily basking in the spotlight.  

VIRGO 

Now’s the time to tidy up loose ends – but it’s not so great for launching anything new.   Mercury’s run in with strict Saturn on Thursday afternoon sparks a four-day stretch of feeling a little bit stuttered or even closed off.  Don’t feel guilty if you need to take some time out for yourself.  You’ll actually be able to use that space to check a hundred things off of your to-do list.  It’s like Spring Cleaning in October.  As more planets enter Scorpio, a friendly water sign, you’ll start feeling that much more confident about the base you’ve built.  

LIBRA

You’re in for a week full of the good stuff – watch for plenty of spontaneous celebrations between now and next Tuesday’s Full Moon.  It’s the perfect way to celebrate your season, just make sure to remember all that you’re trying to accomplish for yourself.  Don’t take anything as seriously as you’re taking your own goals right now.  Your Venus ruler moving into Scorpio at the end of the week means you’ll be raising your standards quite a bit in the coming days. You’ll also be pulling up some of your very deepest resources in order to give something back.     

SCORPIO 

Pop quiz.  The people who really count are starting to take notice - are you ready for all the attention?  Venus enters your sign on Saturday night:  get ready for a season where absolutely everybody is looking your way.  This is especially true in day-to-day situations like where you work or the grocery store.  You’re about to see how everything is connected – from forged friendships to the relationships you’re trying to build for yourself. It’s not so much about an easy windfall as it is about creating a very strong and stable new support system. 

SAGITTARIUS  

Be on the lookout.  You’ve got some big expectations and this week, if you keep your eyes open, you’re liable to stumble up on the very opportunities that help you find them.  As stifled as you might be feeling, Mars in a fellow fire sign is still enabling you to get plenty of stuff done, if you put your mind to it.  Work it.  Someone or something very crushworthy is about to introduce themselves into your world if they haven’t already.  Watch for the situation to come to surprising heights as soon as next week 

CAPRICORN 

Here’s where you get rewarded for the work you’ve been doing on your relationships.  You feel like you get it more than every before, and that’s making things run smoothly for you as well as everybody else.  If you’re still looking for the negative aspects, or nit-picking about things that don’t matter much in the long run, you’re focusing too much on your pessimistic side.  Change your perspective and you’ll soon see that these challenges are helping you be the very best you can be. Monday and Tuesday are perfect for asking for whatever you need.  

AQUARIUS

You’re either expanding your horizons, or you’re daydreaming about it.  Take advantage of the ideas you’re coming up with this week.  At the very least, write them down to keep track – but even better start taking some steps towards manifesting them.  The more you action you take right now, the harder it will be to stop you from moving.  Not to say you should be impulsive.  You’re in a place right now where you’re able to use your imagination and your intelligence to create things that have perfect balance between the best of both worlds. 

PISCES 

Read for last week.  Venus moving into a fellow water sign on Saturday night will definitely amp up the possibility of making a certain something start to happen – just make sure that this person (or situation) isn’t just trying to flatter you in all the right ways.  In other words, watch out for starfuckers and parasites.  Remember all the work you’ve been doing to push yourself forward.  You deserve the rewards.  Even more, you deserve the right person to share it with.  Saturday is the perfect day for asking for whatever it is you’re looking for. 

Big Ole Transits and Where I’ve Been…

Transits  happen to us everyday.  The Moon moves through all 12 signs of the zodiac each month, making significant contact with every one of the planets in our birth chart at least 8 times each within that 30 days.  The Sun does the same within a year, as do Venus and Mercury. These transits, from the personal planets, repeat themselves over and over every year of our life. But since the planets move so fast, they each only affect us (typically*) for a day or so at a time.  

At the same time, the outer planets are also transiting our chart - but since the outer planets move so much slower, they stay in the same territory for months, or even years at a time - and therefore affect us for just as long.  When Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto is transiting a major planet or point in your chart, the manifestations tend to be fairly major and life-changing.  They happen gradually, but suddenly. All of a sudden you’re in a completely different place - but in retrospect you can very vividly see all the steps that got you there.  Outer planet transits are often the chapters that are pretty much a drag at the time they’re happening, but later when you look back, you can see exactly why you needed them. 

Let’s say Neptune is conjunct your Venus (in plain English,  Neptune today is in the same place that Venus was at the moment you were born):  Neptune tends to fog what it touches and fill it with fantasy.  Venus represents what you’re attracted to. Neptune moves so slowly that it can stay in that same place (where your natal Venus is) for up to two years.  One possible manifestation of that transit could be that you fall fantastically (Neptune) all sorts of in love (Venus) with the dreamiest (Neptune), hardest to pin down (Neptune) most nebulous (Neptune) character you’ve ever come across.  But a few years later, when Neptune moves on, that fantasy could very well fall off of his pedestal. 

These days (and through 2013) I’ve got Pluto squaring my natal Moon.  (Pluto is in cardinal Capricorn 90 degrees away from my cardinal Aries Moon).  Pluto is transformation.  Powerful transformation.  Pluto transits basically strip you of things you’re super attached to and think you know for sure you really need.  Pluto transits make you find your power, and they typically hurt (all the more to make you better my dear).   

The Moon represents your emotions as well as where you come from.  On a very basic level the Moon is your mother, it’s where you feel safe.  In these times that also translates to what you consider family and home. A square is a challenge, it forces an outcome. 

A square between Pluto and the Moon means compulsive (Pluto) moods (Moon). Check. 

It’s also deep transformation (Pluto) to what you consider and/or what is home (Moon). 

For the past 9 years I’ve lived on Scott Avenue in Echo Park, Los Angeles.  That’s a longer stretch than I’ve ever called any one residence home.  There’s been hundreds of good times and sad ones and stories to tell but more than that, it’s just become completely familiar.  It’s my world and I love it and I never thought I’d leave. 

But, you know, circumstances. 

Gradually, and suddenly (as outer planets go), I couldn’t find a job, or even enough gigs to make it work. Pluto makes things collapse, and that’s exactly what happened to my life (home/Moon) in LA (which I’d held on to by the thinnest of strings for years because I loved it so much).  Time for transformation, brand new chapter, happens to the best. Time to leave my friends and my Love and my home and redefine them: Pluto square Moon. 

Last week I moved to Colorado, where I’m from, to try and start fresh.  My mom and dad are about an hour south, so technically this is “home”, right?  

Pluto squaring the Moon forces transformations with the way you relate to your family and where you come from and how you feel about that and what you get from it.  I’m just on the beginning of that road.  The major move has happened, but the repercussions are just about to begin playing out.  

In the meantime, I miss my life and LA sunsets and the people I saw every day and loved so damn much.  I’m in this beautiful place with so much history, but I feel so out of place and old here and don’t know a soul and it’s weird and who knows what’s going to happen next.  There’s plenty of good stuff and I can see that and goddamn do I want to appreciate it.  But it’s Pluto workin’ on me - and that’s always about taking away the things you’re the very most attached to. It’s like peeling off a painful scab as slowly as you can. 

You know, circumstances. 

Without a doubt there’ll be a day I look back at all this so very thankful for how things ended up.  That’s Pluto.

*Mercury and Venus can both affect your chart for longer than a day or two when they’re going through their retrograde phases, thus staying in the same territory for several weeks, rather than several days a time.
