Repost: About Transits

Your chart is a map of where each of the planets were at the moment you were born. It’s stationary, it never changes. Think of it like a clock - each of the planets on your birth chart is like a number on a clock. As the planets now travel around that clock, they come into contact with those planets - just like the hands on a clock point to different numbers.
“Transits” are the contacts that the planets make to your personal chart as they move through the signs.
Some of the planets move so fast they go around your entire chart in one year. Others are so slow (like Pluto) they won’t even travel around half of your birth chart in an average lifetime. The Moon moves fast enough that it gets completely around your chart in about a month. Using the clock analogy - the Moon is like a “seconds” hand, the other personal planets like the minutes hand, etc.
The slowest moving planets transit your chart for months or even years at a time. Outer planet transits are like eras.
Jupiter and Saturn are a bit faster moving than the farthest out there planets. Jupiter spends about a year in each sign, Saturn about two. Transits from these planets are like chapters.
The fastest moving planets transit for a couple of days or even just the day. Inner planet transits are more like moods.
Let’s say you’re having a Pluto transit, Pluto trine Mercury. It’s going to be affecting you for over two years. During this time you’re also in school (Mercury) and doing a ton of hard core research (Pluto). That’s the era. There’s also a six-month period where Saturn will be squaring your Sun. You run up against a few challenges during those six months: your research proves nothing, you hate your professor, you start doubting (Saturn) yourself (Sun) all over the place. That’s a chapter within the era. A year goes by and all of a sudden Saturn is trine your Mars and you’ve got more energy (Mars) than you thought possible to put toward study and discipline and getting things right (Saturn): that’s another chapter.
During every chapter you have days where you feel great, and days where you’re not quite so on. Mercury runs into your Venus and there’s crushes to be found all over the place. Mars hits your Moon and you’re all sorts of pissed off. The Moon runs into Saturn and you’re so lonely. Mars finds your Venus and it’s totally Spring Fever all over again. Those are moods, they go up and down from moment to moment.
Astrologers use transits to shape your horoscope, a picture of what energies will be affecting you the most during a specific period of time. A Weather Report. I’m doing weather reports for $25 until September 30. A personalized horoscope for the next three months, written just for you, a Weather Report can help you figure out what era you’re in - as well as what chapters might be coming up within that era. I’ll also throw in some dates of inner planet transits that tell you what days are better for being out and about, what days are better for getting things done, and when you’ll be most focused on the love stuff. Happy Stars!
