Don’t Memorize - Mix It Up

Here’s a thing about learning Astrology.
It’s not nearly as simple (or as horrifyingly tedious) as memorizing a whole litany of facts that describe the people born under each sign.
In fact, any time you read a blanket statement describing what ALL Scorpios do or EVERY SINGLE Gemini desires - it’s important to remember a couple of things:
First - the description of any sign should describe the sign itself, not the traits of every single person born (when the Sun was) in that sign.
Every one of us has all twelve signs in our make up. When you’re reading about the traits of Scorpio, you’re not reading specifically about every single Scorpio you know - you’re reading about the energy of Scorpio - and that energy is somewhere in your makeup (and every single person you know) as well.
Second - the energies of each sign (and planet) have infinite manifestations from epic positive to breakdown bad and all sorts of places in between. The manifestations depend on how we use the energy. It’s the free will part.
~
Astrology is based on three things: Planets, Signs, and Houses.
10 Major planets. 12 Signs. and 12 Houses.
Each of the Signs corresponds to one of the Houses.
Each of the Planets rules one of the Signs (and therefore the House) that that sign corresponds with. Mercury and Venus rule two signs each. Mercury = Gemini and Virgo. Venus = Taurus and Libra.
Mix it up.
When you start to get more familiar with a sign - let’s say Cancer (because you’re totally crushed out on a Cancer, or all of a sudden everyone you meet is a Cancer, or you find out Cancer is your Rising Sign, or whatever) - you’re also starting to get more familiar with the Planet and House associated with that sign. So take everything you’ve learned about Cancer and see how those concepts apply to the 4th House (the House that Cancer is associated with), and the Planet that rules the sign of Cancer - the Moon.
The Moon/Cancer/the 4th House all have the same kind of vibe: comfort, needs, protection, home, where you come from. Once you know a bit about Cancer, you know a bit about the Moon, and you know a bit about the 4th House too.
The Planet is the Archetype, the actor.
The Sign is the Color, the genre.
The House is the Location, the setting.
::
The Archetype = the MOON/the Mother Figure: comfort, need, protection
The Genre = CANCER: Family, Home, Ancestry, Food
The Setting = 4th House: Home, where you come from, where you’re comfortable.
~
They all have a similar vibe, see?
You can do this with any sign or planet or house.
Jupiter/Sagittarius/9th House:
Archetype = Jupiter: Expansion/Santa Claus/Inflation/Exacerbation
Genre = Sagittarius: Adventure / Long Distances / Philosophy / Experience
Setting = 9th House: Higher Education / Foreign Travel / Beliefs
-
Mars/Aries/1st House
Archetype = Mars: the Warrior/ Energy / Action / Pioneer
Genre = Aries: Action / War / Competition / #1
Setting = 1st House: Self (stepping out, proving your self), Personality, Perspective
~
Mix it up.
Take a person with the Moon in the 1st House in Sagittarius.
That could spell passionate (Fire = 1st House + Sagittarius) emotions (Moon). Or an emotionally (Moon) blunt (Sagittarius) personality (1st House).
Let’s do it another way.
Mars in the 4th House in Sagittarius.
This could manifest as an active (or angry - Mars) family (4th House) that’s restless/always on the move (Sagittarius). It could also manifest as the desire and drive (Mars) to move (4th House/Home) to another country (Sagittarius). Or both. Or all sorts of things in between.
~
You don’t have to learn it all at once. You get familiar with the things that resonate with you, and then you start to make connections.
It’s a lot like learning music.
Mix it up.
