New Moon on Monday Astrology

Sun/Neptune

22 August 2022

The Sun will be opposing Neptune at 4:28 pm (pacific daylight time).

Remember, Neptune’s nebulous.  It washes over us like the sea and lots of times gets us swept away in daydreams.  The Sun’s opposition to Neptune today could have us all in a way spacey kind of place, feeling forgetful, no focus to be found.  It’s lovely weather for anything artistic or creative, not so much for getting down to business.

Neptune is currently in late Aquarius, just on the border of Pisces. Because all of the personal planets have been in Leo (the opposite sign to Aquarius), they’ve each made an opposition to Neptune as they make their way out of Leo (or in Mercury’s case, two oppositions so far).

The Venus/Neptune opposition happened over the weekend (anybody get the dreamy romance vibes?).   Mercury opposed Neptune for the first time back in late July, just before turning Retrograde and going back to do it again two weeks later - (here’s a post from those days).  Mercury will be returning to forward motion over the weekend and opposing Neptune one last time in early September.

Remember, Neptune moves slow - the personal planets move fast.  When the personal planets (the Sun, Mercury, Venus) are transiting Neptune, the effects last at most for two or three days.  These planets also travel through all twelve signs of the zodiac every single year - so in one year’s time they’ll each make at least seven major contacts to Neptune (with retrogrades, sometimes more).

Neptune transits to your personal chart, on the other hand, can last for months and even years.  The stars in the sky are in constant motion, but your chart - the map of the stars at the moment you were born - is stationary, it never changes.  If you have any planets at the very last degrees of Aquarius, Leo, Taurus or Scorpio or the very first degrees of Pisces, Virgo, Gemini or Sagittarius - you’re going through a Neptune transit and it won’t be over until mid-2012.  This can also be said for planets at the last degrees (28-30) of Libra, Gemini, Aries and Sagittarius and the earliest degrees (0-2) of Scorpio, Cancer, Taurus and Capricorn.

Neptune transits to your chart can bring waves of change and confusion - dreamy circumstances and escapist tendencies.  I’ve got three planets in Aquarius (early through late) and have been going through Neptune transits (to my Venus, my Sun, and my Mercury) since early 1998. Trust me, I’m a whole different person on the other side.  Lots more about this to come.

In the meantime, if you’d like to see what’s happening with your Neptune transit, order a personalized Weather Report here.

Try to keep it clear!
